AT HOME PRACTICE/PRACTICE CHART INFORMATION
Learning a band instrument and learning your part in band requires both
enthusiasm as well as commitment. Practicing regularly is the secret to
success for all band students. It is best for parents and students to find a
place at home designated for practice time and set aside a regular scheduled
practice time (at least 30 minutes at a time). Ideally, 30 minutes per day
every day would produce the best results. However, with other homework
demands this may be difficult. At minimum, band students should practice no
less than three 30-minute sessions at home per week. Students may also
consider performing what they have practiced on that week for their parents
so that parents may see how their children are progressing.

The WEEKLY PRACTICE CHART is given to students at the beginning of each nine-
week period. It lists every required "at-home" practice week for the
quarter. The weekly total is to be placed in the blank next to the
corresponding week. A parent or guardian is required to sign each week to
verify at-home practice took place. In the event that a student loses
his/her chart, they are to provide a note from parent stating the practice
hours with a signature.

Practice charts are due EVERY MONDAY. Late practice charts will only receive
partial credit. No practice charts or charts without parent signature will
receive "0".

Practice charts are considered homework for band and count towards each band
student's grade. Students are to be honest about their total hours.
At-home practice includes: practicing band music on student's band
instrument as well as rhythm chart counting practice and solfege practice.
At-home practice DOES NOT include: rehearsal after-school or performance
time.
