- a 3-ring binder and page protectors to store music
- marching band flip folder AND flip folder lyre for
your specific instrument (percussion will NOT need the flip folder
and holder)
-plain black pants, black socks, black shoes for concert performances
INSTRUMENT MAINTENANCE MATERIALS (VERY IMPORTANT!)
Flute - cleaning rod and cloth
Oboe and Bassoon - 2 working reeds (medium), reed holder, swab
(oboe) OR bocal cleaner (bassoon)
All Clarinets - 4 working reeds (Vandoren #3 or Mitchell Lurie #3
strengths are a minimum requirement), reed holder, cork grease
and drop swab (silk swab is recommended)
Mouthpiece upgrade-see director
All Saxophones - 4 working reeds (Vandoren #3 or LaVoz Medium -
strengths are a minimum requirement), reed holder, cork grease and
mouthpiece swab. Mouthpiece upgrade-see director
Trumpet - valve oil, tuning slide grease (Vaseline), mouthpiece
brush
Horn - rotary valve oil, tuning slide grease (Vaseline), mouthpiece
brush, cleaning cloth (no polish � an old cotton t-shirt works
great), cleaning rod and snake
Trombone - mouthpiece brush, tuning slide grease (Vaseline), either
a cleaning rod or snake, if available Conn �Super Slick/Formula 3
OR Selmer Cleaning Kit (throw slide oil or "Sure Slick" away or get
them to swap it for "Super Slick")
Baritone/Euphonium - valve oil, tuning slide grease (Vaseline) and
mouthpiece brush
Tuba - valve oil, tuning slide grease (Vaseline) and mouthpiece brush
Percussionists - one pair of Vic Firth SD1 General drumsticks
(wooden tips) and a practice pad
