COURSE PROCEDURES *** 2009-2010 *** MRS. MARTINEZ
ROOM 308 *** MANDEVILLE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL *** EAGLES *** MATH

1. All papers will be labeled with your name, date, and the assignment.

2. Enter the classroom with a positive attitude. Negativity will NOT be
tolerated.

3. When you enter class, you are to throw away trash and sharpen pencils (if
necessary) before the tardy bell. Once seated you are to begin working the
daily math in your binder. Then put your homework on your desk from the
previous night, in addition to your binder. This should be completed before
the teacher is ready to start class.

4. You are expected to sit in your assigned seat at all times.

5. All assignments will be completed using a normal or mechanical pencil. No
colored pencils for written assignments. Use of a writing utensil besides a
pencil may result in a reduction of points earned on assignments.

6. You will be given 3 hall passes for the nine weeks since you are expected
to use the restroom and visit your locker before school, during lunch, and
during the change of classes. If you lose them, they will NOT be replaced.
You may ask the teacher to use the restroom or go to your locker, but she
will choose an appropriate time for you to leave class to do so. All unused
hall passes may be surrendered at the end of the quarter for bonus exam
points! You will NOT be given permission to leave class to call home.

7. Anytime you must leave the room, you must sign out on the clipboard. When
you return, you must sign in.

8. Anytime you enter the room after the tardy bell, you must complete a
yellow tardy slip and give it to the teacher.

9. When you finish a test, quietly place your paper in the assigned file
location, collect your next assignment, return to your seat, and begin
working. Talking during a test, whether you have a test in your possession or
someone else in the room has a test, is grounds for a zero. Please respect
your classmates’ rights for quiet.

10. When you finish a quiz, turn it over on your desk and wait for further
instructions. Sit quietly until then. Talking, once again, is grounds for a
zero.

11. Tests and projects are graded in green. Quizzes are graded in purple.
Homework, classwork, and daily math are graded in red.

12. All papers, quizzes, and other assignments collected are to be handed to
the person. Do not throw the papers or other items. You are not allowed to
rifle through the papers you collect.

13. Papers are returned to the owner only. You will walk to the teacher when
your name is called to collect your paper.

14. You will be given a homework checklist to keep in your binder. You are to
keep this with you in class at all times since this is where the teacher will
stamp that your homework was complete on any given day. Periodically this
will be collected, entered into the computer, and a new one issued.

15. It is strongly recommend that you record all grades on your grade sheet
in your planner. You must file all graded papers in your binder. Keep all
papers returned! If I were you, I would not throw away ANY paper given in
this class!

16. You will receive an A cutout to place on the appropriate A Board for each
A on tests and quizzes that you earn. The class with the highest percentage
of A’s per person will receive an ice cream party at the end of the quarter.

17. When papers are returned, the hole puncher will be passed around the
room. Please place the hole puncher on your neighbor’s desk. This will
minimize the amount of times it is dropped. Hole punchers can also be found
in the classroom for use as necessary.

18. Anytime you are absent check the appropriate folder for missed handouts
and papers. You are responsible for these assignments. Make up work is to be
discussed before school, before class, or during lunch. You may check the web
site http://teacherweb.com/LA/MandevilleJrHigh/Martinez/ for missed homework
or you may use the link from the school web page.

19. Homework will be posted on the website
http://teacherweb.com/LA/MandevilleJrHigh/Martinez/ or you may use the link
from the school web page; however, you are responsible for recording your
homework assignment before you leave class. There are no excuses for the
internet being down.

20. Extra credit is given to the entire class, not on an individual basis.
Take advantage of it when given!

21. Pack your belongings only after instructed by the teacher.

22. Anyone finishing an assignment early must show the teacher and then begin
working on other math assignments, early finishers library, or reading a book
of your own. You should always have a book to read with you in case you
finish early.

23. The teacher will dismiss you, not the bell. Remain seated until
dismissed.

24. E-mail the teacher at tracey.martinez@stpsb.org if you have any questions.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please read, sign and cut on the above line and return to Mrs. Martinez no
later than Wednesday, August 12, 2009. This is your second homework
assignment. Start the year right! I have read the math course procedures for
the 2009 - 2010 school year.
