*******FIELD TRIP NEWS**********ALL FIELD TRIP PERMISSION SLIPS/PAYMENTS ARE
DUE FRIDAY, NOV. 6 TO MRS. FRUGE'. The field trip to the Audubon Zoo is
Friday, Nov. 20. Information will follow to all chaperones. Thank you SO
much for volunteering and making our field trip possible. We look forward to
a wonderful day:)
WELCOME TO MJH! I'm excited to teach your child and I know our
accomplishments will be great this year.
Please be sure your child is using a white binder for Math with pocket
dividers. Loose leaf paper and pencils should be replenished often. The
Practice Workbook and Notetaking Workbook should both be kept in the binder.
Your child was given a Math textbook to keep at home. We have a class set to
use in school. Please check and make sure that the book is at home for easy
reference.
All students should use their planner daily for organization. We also have a
daily assignment sheet available to all students through their first hour
teacher.
Encourage your child to visit the following websites for Mathematic skills
and iLEAP practice: www.louisianaschools.net and www.louisianapass.org
(username is student and password is tiger). I also advise that they Google
the word Math and explore different websites to practice skills. Many of the
students need to practice the basic facts in addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division. Counting fingers leads to careless mistakes and
it's time consuming. Knowing these facts by memory promotes accuracy.
Homework assignments will sometimes be modified on the day of the assignment
if we aren't able to complete the skills I've planned. Please check with
your child to be sure they are completing homework. If a student misses
three homework assignments, I will send a note for your signature.
If you'd like a tutor for your child, I will be sending home a list of the Mu
Alpha Theta (MHS Math Club) members. These students are excellent tutors and
are available for several hours of free tutoring. Specific details are on
the list. This should be in their binder. Some MJH teachers tutor, also.
This is indicated on our MJH website and you can contact these teachers
through email.
