Hello,
My name is William "Buddy" Givens. I am delighted to serve as the Vice Principal of Monterey High School. I consider myself very fortunate to be in this position. Let me tell you a little about myself.
I am a long-time resident of Natchez, Mississippi. I married my wife, Ann in 1982 and have a son, who is a senior at Adams County Christian School, and a daughter, who is a freshman at the same school.
I did not immediately enter the educational arena. I worked fifteen years for Entergy Utilities in Natchez and ultimately became a victim of corporate downsizing in the mid 1990's. I decided to enter college and obtain my degree to become an educator. Without a whole lot of confidence in my ability to succeed in college, I entered Co-Lin Junior College in Natchez. After completing junior college, I received an offer to attend Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. Without a doubt, God helped me through those years and allowed me to obtain my degree in History and in Education, graduating Summa Cum Laude and becoming a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Several years later, I entered the University of Southern Mississippi and obtained a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.
It is my goal to work alongside faculty, staff, and parents to assist students in realizing their academic potential. Please trust that I am very approachable and will work tirelessly to continue the long tradition of academic excellence at Monterey High School. I look forward to many fruitful years working with you.
