We know we're a few days late on this, but we've FINALLY posted the 5 Finalists for our Best Website contest on our Facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/TeacherWebInc
. You have from now until midnight next Wednesday, May 22nd, to vote on your favorite. The winner will receive a free year of TeacherWeb, and the 4 runners-up will get $15 Starbucks giftcards, so vote wisely! The Finalists' websites are posted in their own photo album on our Facebook page, so check those out first, visit the sites, click around, then come back and vote via our poll.
Thanks for your participation - we were amazed by all the entries and fantastic websites that we got to review, and if you didn't end up in the Top 5, know that it's because there are so many stellar educators out there using our products to reach their students and families that it was almost impossible for us to choose.
Thanks again,
The folks at TeacherWeb

Academic/College Counseling for Juniors

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">There are two main tasks that need to happen during eleventh grade: you must complete your standardized testing (ACT) and begin visiting college campuses. A college visit is perhaps the most important thing you can do to find the right match. This point cannot be overemphasized. Students who take the time to visit several campuses and form their opinions of what they do and do not like will tend to have more direction and focus throughout the application process in twelfth grade. They are less likely to procrastinate in completing their applications and generally experience less stress in making their final choice than students who do not visit.

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">College fairs, which are held in the fall and spring, can be helpful. Each fair typically has admission representatives from 100-200 colleges. Families can pick and choose which colleges they prefer to get information on and decide if the college merits a campus visit. Check the Counseling bulletin board often to get more information about local college fairs. Once you have generated a list of potential colleges, get out there and visit!

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">In addition to visiting campuses, the other major task of eleventh grade students is to complete the necessary standardized testing. We recommend that you take the ACT at least twice before the end of the school year in order to be prepared for the application process in twelfth grade. NCS also requires students to take the Writing section of the ACT at least once before the end of their junior year.

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Check out the College Counseling Handbook (in Downloadable Resources) for more details on the college application process.

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Check out the Junior Year Timeline<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";"> (in Downloadable Resources)<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";"> <span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">for a checklist of what you should be doing during your junior year!!

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Related Links:

Nation's TOP 50 Colleges and Universities

http://www.thebestcolleges. org/rankings/top-50/

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">College Zone

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">http://www.collegezone.com/counselorzone/1086.htm

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Mapping Your Future

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">http://mappingyourfuture.org/

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">College Matchmaker

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/index.jsp

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">NCAA Eligibility Center
<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">https://web1.ncaa.org/eligibilitycenter/common/

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Career Search

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">http://www.jobhuntersbible.com/counseling/sec_page.php?sub_item=048

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">ACT Preparation

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">www.princetonreview.com

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">ACT
<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">www.actstudent.org

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Christian College/Career Options

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">www.christiancollegementor.org

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">College Majors Search

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">collegemajors101.com

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">College View

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">www.collegeview.com

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">TOPS – Louisiana Program

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">https://osfantweb.osfa.state.la.us/TOPSPort.nsf/

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">College Board (Information on SAT and PSAT)

<span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif";">www.collegeboard.com

DOME SAT Review (SAT Test Prep)

http://domesatreview.com/

<span style="font-size: 12pt;
