| Administrative Support Occupations
In order to receive a credit for this class, you MUST have had Keyboarding
and Keyboarding Applications or IBCA I and II. If you do not complete both
of these semester classes, YOU WILL NOT receive a credit for this class.
These prerequisites have been established by the State Department of
Education and there is no way to get around the
requirements.
You will sign in with me on a daily basis BEFORE reporting to the
office/counselor's office/library.
Because of the duties you will be performing, it is extremely important that
confidentiality be maintained. Any breach in confidentiality may result in
receiving a failing grade for this class and removal from your position.
Dishonesty in the performance of your duties may also result in failure and
removal from your position.
Attendance is of utmost importance. You were selected for this program
based on your past attendance history. If attendance becomes a problem, you
may be removed from your position and lose credit for this class.
You will cover four chapter from the textbook THE OFFICE PROCEDURES AND
TECHNOLOGY each nine weeks. 30% of your grade will be based on the tests
that you take at the end of each chapter. These are objective tests and are
worth 50 points each. All are open book. I will give you the test when you
check in with me and then tell you at that time when it is due. Any test
not completed and returned by the due date is subject to penalty. Penalty
is based on how late the test is turned in.
You will be required to complete a nine weeks reflection. This reflection
will count as your exam. See separate page for explanation of the
reflection.
GRADING
Your grade will be based on the following:
50%--Supervisor’s evaluation
30%--Chapter tests
20%--Nine weeks reflection (exam)
NINE WEEKS REFLECTION
Twenty percent (20%) of your nine weeks grade will come from
reflection. You will submit a written reflection thinking over everything
that occurred during the nine-week period. This reflection must be typed,
double-spaced in paragraph form, a minimum of twelve sentences in length and
a maximum of one page. It may not contain any spelling or grammatical
errors.
In the header section, place your name and the dates for the
reflection. Follow the example below:
Sue Smith Nine weeks reflection Aug. 10-Oct. 11, 2007
In your reflection you are not to just state what you did for the
nine weeks. You are to reflect on what took place. Some questions you may
want to address include:
What did you learn?
What would you have liked to learn?
Did anything unusual happen?
Are you excited about what’s taking place at your training site?
Did anything go wrong?
If something went wrong, were you able to take care of it? If not, what
happened?
What do you like about what you’re doing?
What don’t you like?
How do you get along with your mentor? co-workers? customers? others?
Did you receive adequate orientation?
Are you having any problems? What are they? Can they be resolved?
Is this what you expected? Why? Why not?
Is there anything that you would like to do that you are not allowed to do?
