Photo ID to be required for fall SAT, ACT exams
All students taking the SAT and ACT college entrance exams this fall nationwide will have to provide photo IDs on their applications in a major security upgrade prompted by a widespread cheating scandal in New York's Long Island.
The new testing requirements include making students upload a photograph of themselves, or mail one in, when they register for the college entrance exams.
The student will then receive an admission ticket, containing the scanned photo, to use to get into the testing site.
The photo will also be printed on the test site roster and can be checked against the photo ID a student provides at the test center. In addition, that photo will be attached to a student's scores as they are reported to high schools and colleges.
Other changes include checking student IDs more frequently at test centers.

We’ve changed our name…
Northshore High “PTSA”
( Parent Teacher Student Association)
The PTA has had a significant impact at Northshore High for many years. Although we are a supportive success, we have decided to continue to build upon it. We are not here just to be encouragers to the school’s administration and faculty, but to work effectively to improve our school and to develop student leadership. You will notice there is an “S” in PTSA. The “S” stands for students. Encourage your NHS student to join the PTSA!!!

RECYCLING
Northshore High is collecting ink cartridges and old cell phones (at the front office). Cell phones are being collected for the organization called www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com. The money collected from these phones will pay for pre-paid phone cards for our U.S. Troops. This is a great way to support them, plus recycle at the same time. Plus, every donor of a cell phone will receive a bumper sticker or window decal. Just tell the staff at the front office that you have a donation and they’ll give it to you. It’s that easy! Please see the RECYCLING PROGRAM LINK ON THE LEFT MENU FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS. Thank you!!

Parents please be aware that Louisiana law now requires all students attending colleges in Louisiana to receive a vaccine for protection against meningitis. It is especially important for those students planning to live in dormitories, but is beneficial for all students even while they are in high school. The newest vaccine available is called Menactra and should provide life long protection. The vaccine should be available through your physician, but be aware not all insurance companies are covering this
immunization and it costs about $100. It can also be given at the St. Tammany Parish Health Unit which is located on the Northshore Regional Medical Center complex,105 Medical Center Drive Suite 101 for a cost of $10 (up to age 18). You can contact the health unit at 646-6445. Be proactive and get your student immunized against meningitis.
