The filing of the FAFSA is a requirement for the T.O.P.S program, and also the means to possibly qualify for financial assistance, i.e., Pell Grant, Campus-Based Aid and a number of different types of loans. Any and all financial aid can be used to help pay for a student's education after high school; BUT, you must file the FAFSA in order to determine what type of aid you are eligible to receive.
There will be a presentation on Tuesday, January 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the Slidell City Auditorium for parents and students regarding the FAFSA. If you and your parents have not filed a FAFSA before, this presentation will assist you in understanding how to complete the FAFSA correctly. Prior to the presentation, please review the FAFSA so that any questions you may have about it, can be answered that evening.
The FAFSA cannot be filed before January 1, 2010. More detailed information about the FAFSA is currently available online at http://www.osfa.state.la.us/MainSitePDFs/LOSFA_Opportunities_Book.pdf .
