Monday – PRINT packet of Ch 8 exercises and assessments for a grade. Save
all work on the computer. Begin PowerPoint Travel Project. Students will be
given requirements for the project in a handout and a rubric.
Tuesday – TEST on Chapter 8. Begin Power point Travel Project.
Wednesday – Continue on Travel Project. Use the Internet for research.
Thursday – Work on Power point Travel Project. Follow the requirements and
criteria/guidelines.
Friday – Work on Power point Travel Project. Follow the requirements and
guidelines. Project is due after Thanksgiving holidays (Tuesday, Dec. 2nd).
OBJECTIVES:
Ch 8 – Students will be able to: send and edit a presentation for review;
insert comments and print comments; save a presentation as a web page,
preview and format a web page; broadcast a presentation online.
POWER POINT TRAVEL PROJECT: Students will create a Power Point project with
15-20 slides following the criteria on the handout, including pictures, cost,
tours, food, dates, animation, transitions, etc. Students will present their
projects to the class. Projects are due Dec. 2nd – 3rd.
Assessments: Print packet of selected Ch 8 exercises and assessments for a
grade Monday.

Monday – Students were given a TRAVEL Powerpoint Project to complete. A
handout with requirements and a rubric were also given. Directions are on
the handout. Students will continue working on the project. Internet
research will be done for the project. Students each selected a country,
state, or place to do their project on, which was approved by MS. Pecoraro.
Tuesday – Students will complete work on TRAVEL Project following guidelines
and criteria given.
Wednesday – Students will complete Project. It is DUE today. Students will
begin viewing and grading Travel projects in class.
Thursday – Students will begin viewing and grading Travel projects in class.
Friday – Students will begin viewing and grading Travel projects in class.
OBJECTIVES: Students will create a PowerPoint project, using animation,
transitions, graphics, sound and creativity. The show must have 15-20 slides.
Assessments: The TRAVEL Project is worth 100 points and will be viewed by
the class when completed. It is due Wed., Dec 3rd.

Unit 1 of this text is the backbone of PowerPoint. For that reason, it is
suggested that the chapters in this unit be given additional time for
students to grasp and absorb the fundamentals of PowerPoint. With that solid
foundation under them, they should be able to work through Unit 2 and its
advanced features at a quicker pace.

All assignments must be completed in order to satisfactorily complete the
requirements of this course. Additional projects in Power Point will be
assigned for reinforcement and graded. They are not listed above. A
written exam or project exam will be given at the end of each nine weeks and
will count as 20% of the 9 weeks grade. The timeframe and dates above may
be modified or changed as projects are added. The syllabus is flexible and
subject to change when required.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course the student will be able
to:
Prepare a PowerPoint presentation
Edit and format a PowerPoint Presentation
Add animation to a presentation
Use WordArt and create organization charts
Link and embed objects and replace fonts
Add visual elements to a PowerPoint presentation
All the above objectives will be completed on the Core and Expert levels of
PowerPoint.

CLASSROOM RULES:
1. Be in your seat when the bell rings. Zero Tolerance for Tardies.
Students must be in the classroom and preparing for class when the tardy
bell rings. The only way to have any tardy “excused” is to present a signed
note from a teacher, administrator, or the office at the time you enter the
classroom or the tardy is “unexcused”. All unexcused tardies will be
given Administrative detentions beginning with the 2nd tardy.
2. Remain in your seat until the bell rings at the end of class.
3. Respect others.
4. Keep workstation neat. Bring all materials & Binder to class with
you EVERY DAY.
5. Absolutely NO food or drinks are allowed in the computer lab.
Detentions will be given.
6. COMPUTER STATION: You are responsible for the care of your
computer. Students are NOT allowed to change any computer settings, i.e.,
desktop, DOS, hard drive, file manager, control panel, etc. Students will
be removed from the computer, and disciplinary action will be taken. If a
student finds that something is missing or not working correctly at the
assigned computer workstation, he/she should report it immediately to the
teacher. ALL seats will be assigned. Work ONLY at your assigned computer
station. NO games or internet allowed unless given permission by the
teacher.
7. CLASS WORK: ALL EXERCISES, PROJECTS and ASSESSMENTS MUST be saved
on YOUR computer in order to get credit for it. Print from your computer
ONLY. Do NOT delete any work from your computer until the teacher instructs
you to do so and the work has been graded and returned to you. All students
are expected to do their own work. Any student found cheating or sharing
work will be given a zero. If a student prints work for another student,
they will both receive zeros. Work must be saved on YOUR computer until you
are instructed to delete it, in order to get credit.
8. ALL MAKE UP WORK MUST BE DONE IN THE LAB (Room 104).
Students may come in before school to Room 104 to make up work from 7:05-
7:25am or after school from 2:41-3:00pm (any day but Wednesday) You must
have an excused absence to make up work. There is only one set of books &
they remain at each computer station. The students were not issued books.
Exercises and Assessments are done on the computer and printed from each
lesson for a grade and must be done in the lab.
It is your responsibility to turn in all assigned work. If you are absent,
it is up to you to find out what was missed. Any work not turned in is
recorded as a zero. Quizzes and/or tests are announced in advance. These
will be taken as scheduled unless a student has two consecutive absences
prior to test day or unless prior arrangements have been made.
After a week has elapsed, failure to make up work will result in a zero for
that assignment.You will be given two days for each day that is missed.
Make arrangements with me and your transportation THE DAY BEFORE to make up
work.
9. All students must have a Student Technology Agreement on file to
access to the Internet. As per the Technology Agreement, no outside disks
are allowed into the classroom.
10. Hall/Restroom Pass: Each student will be allowed TWO passes out of
class per nine weeks. Only 1 student will be allowed out of the
class at a time. Never leave class without permission.
GRADING POLICY:
80% - Daily Work (Participation, Daily/Weekly Assignments, Quizzes, Tests)
20% -- Nine Weeks Exam (given at the end of each nine weeks)
If specific consequences were not listed above for the inappropriate
conduct, the following will apply and all detentions will be served within 3
days.
a. on the first infraction, the student will be made aware of the
inappropriate behavior & warned.
b. 2nd infraction – student will receive a detention by the teacher.
Some detentions will be administrative detentions.
c. 3rd infraction – student will be written up and sent to the
disciplinary office.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Ø 1 small 3-ring binder WITH POCKETS.
Ø Technology Agreement –MUST be signed by you and your parents and
returned to your homeroom teacher.
Ø LAB FEE: $5.00 and 1 bottle of hand sanitizer.
DETENTIONS WILL BE SERVED IN THE CLASSROOM –Room 104, unless it is an
Administrative Detention.
