About The Teacher

Welcome to my Teacher Web Page! I am in my 20th year of providing speech
therapy services to students in public schools (time flies when you're
having fun). I received my B.A. as a Speech, Language, and Hearing
Specialist from SLU in Hammond in 1988. In 1992, I graduated from LSU in
Baton Rouge with a M.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I hold a
full, valid license from the La. Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and
Audiology, and the Certificate of Clinical Competence, awarded by the
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

I spent 16 years with East Baton Rouge Parish Schools, with 10 as a school-
based therapist and 6 as an Instructional Support Specialist for the Speech
Therapy Program. I have also worked for the Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing
Foundation, and as a contract therapist for various home health agencies. I
joined the Zachary Community School District in 2004.

My husband and I are both Denham Springs natives, and still call Livingston
Parish home. When I am not doing mounds of paperwork, I love to fish and
work in my yard. I am active in the Pilot Club of Denham Springs, a civic
organization dedicated to helping people in our community who have brain-
related disorders. I serve as secretary for the Pilot Club of Denham
Springs, LA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, whose goal is to build a
playground in DS that will be accessible for children of all abilities.
Watch for us in the news!

Mission For The Class

I am blessed to work with the very young in our district (some of my
students are three years old!), and our older students, who are nearing the
completion of their education with ZCSS. My goal is for my students to
develop and/or improve their overall communication skills, and be successful
in the classroom. I strive to help them succeed educationally, by
collaborating with their teachers when possible, to ensure that they are
comprehending material in class. My students' self-esteem is important to
me; I do my best to develop a good relationship with them. If students feel
loved, valued, and safe, the learning will come with ease. It is an honor
to work with such wonderful students; I hope what I teach them every day
will have a positive impact on their lives. Please contact me if you have
any concerns about your child or the speech therapy program.
