Ornaments:
Please allow your child to send one ornament for our classroom Christmas
tree. Be sure to label it so I can return it to you.
Skills and Themes:
*Letters- Mm, Gg, Cc, Ss
*Unit Study- Gingerbread Man and Christmas
*Math skills- Graphing, Patterns, Counting One-to-one, Recognizing numerals
*Pre-Reading Skills- Identify beg, mid, and end of a story
Identify main character in a story
Describe the conflict and resolution in a
story
Tell what author and illustrator does for a
story
Home Practice:
*Share a favorite book at home. Identify characters, describe beg, mid, &
end, how did the character resolve problem, describe author and illustrator’s
job, re-tell story in your own words.
*Continue to practice identifying letters in your name. Practice writing
your name.
*Count 10 ornaments on your Christmas tree using one-to-one correspondence.
*Find letters Mm, Gg, Cc, Ss in your favorite story, at the grocery store, in
a magazine, around your home.
* Draw a picture that begins with the sound for Mm, Gg, Cc, Ss.
Labeling:
Please remember to label all coats, hats, scarves, etc. !
Dates to Remember:
*December 11th- “Beauty and the Beast” play at school. Send $3.00
*December 16th, 17th, 18th – Early Dismissal @ 1:15 for conferences. I’ll let
you know if we need to conference on those days.
*December 18th- Class Christmas Party –More information to come.
*December 21- Begins Christmas Break
