What time does school start and end?

School begins at 8:20 am. Students are not to be dropped off at school
earlier than the times listed above. Dismissal will begin at 3:25. If you
will be picking your child up after school, please be prompt. Late pick-ups
and early drop-offs leave teachers without adequate time for preparation.
Please help us make your child’s first school experience a positive one.

What if my child is late for school?

We understand that there may be instances when it is not possible to be here
on time. However, please try to have your child at school on time so we can
begin our day together. Learning begins immediately. If your child is late
he or she will be missing many valuable learning experiences which may
impact
the learning process.

What is the attendance policy?

Regular, on-time attendance at school is vital to your child’s success.
Most
Pre-K learning activities take place in a large group setting and involve
interaction with classmates, and many of our learning experiences take place
in the first 30 minutes of class. Habitual absences may affect your child’s
progress in Pre-K.

What is the best way to contact Mrs. St. Romain?

You may call the school at anytime during regular school hours. The office
will take a message if I am not able to come to the phone and I will return
your call as soon as possible. Of course, you may send a note to school
with
your child at any time. If you would like to schedule a conference at any
time please feel free to call me or send a note and I will do my best to
accommodate you.

Should I send Money to School?

There may be times during the school year when a note is sent home with your
child requesting money for particular activities. Money should only be sent
to school in a sealed envelope, or Ziploc bag. All money should be labeled
with your child’s name, grade, teacher’s name, and the purpose of the
money.
Please do not send loose money to school for any reason.

What if my child is sick?

If your child is sick please keep him/her at home. Small children catch
germs very easily and illness can spread rapidly around the classroom.
Please DO NOT send your child to school with any of the following symptoms:
•	FEVER-all students must be fever FREE for 24 hours before returning
to school
•	RASH
•	DIARRHEA
•	VOMITING
•	LICE
•	PINK EYE
•	CHICKEN POX
ANY OTHER SYMPTOMS THAT COULD AFFECT THE HEALTH OF THE OTHER CHILDREN

IF YOUR CHILD IS SENT TO SCHOOL SICK, OR BECOMES ILL DURING THE SCHOOL
HOURS,
THE NURSE WILL BE CONTACTING YOU TO COME AND PICK UP YOUR CHILD. PLEASE
KEEP
ALL PHONE NUMBERS CURRENT SO WE MAY REACH YOU IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY.

What should my child wear to school?

**See School Handbook for dress code. I encourage you to send your child to
school in shoes that are conducive to running and jumping. Please label all
jackets and coats with your child’s name.

Does my child need a backpack?

Yes. All students will need a functional backpack, large enough to hold a
9x12 inch folder inside without folding or bending. It should also be large
enough to hold your child’s nap towel and snuggle. Backpacks with wheels
are
not allowed at school, they are too cumbersome and impractical for Pre-K
students to handle independently. Backpacks will be used daily to hold your
child’s many important papers and projects as well as other important
notices. Many backpacks look alike; please label your child’s backpack with
his/her name visible on the outside. PLEASE BRING THE BACKPACK TO SCHOOL
EVERYDAY.

What does my child need for naptime?

Each child will need a towel or blanket and a “snuggle” (a stuffed animal or
doll) for naptime. Your child’s towel and snuggle will be sent home for
washing every Friday, and will need to be returned to school on Monday.
Please make every effort to remember to send them back to school on Monday.
Children tend to get very upset when they realize they have been forgotten.
**Please DO NOT send noisy snuggles. The point of the "snuggle" is the
comfort the child NOT to encourage playing at naptime.

Can I pick up my child if he/she is a bus rider or vise versa?

Yes, but you will need to send a note in your child’s folder that morning.
Each of you will be asked to fill out an EMERGENCY INFORMATION card. On
this
card you will be asked to fill out your child’s main mode of
transportation to and from school. Without a note we will send your child
home according to the information on the EMERGENCY INFORMATION card.

Can I bring cake to school for my child’s birthday?

NO. WE DO NOT ALLOW CAKES OR BIRTHDAY PARTIES IN THE CLASSROOM for several
reasons. Our daily schedule does not allow a birthday party for each
child. We
will provide students celebrating birthdays with many special birthday
privileges such as; birthday story, birthday sticker, and a certificate.

bag in your child’s backpack as soon as possible. The Ziploc bag should be
labeled with your child’s name, as well as EACH article of clothing.
**Please include the following items: Underwear, socks, shirt, pants, or
shorts. **
**If your child is sent home in his/her extra clothing please send that

TOYS, CANDY, AND FOOD?????

For safety reasons pleas do not allow your child to bring any toys, candy
or
food to school. Toys can easily become broken, lost, or stolen. Teachers
will not be responsible for toys brought to school. The only children that
should bring food to school are those who bring their lunch. Please label
your child’s lunch with his/her name.
