*Practice recognizing the letters of the alphabet, upper and lowercase.
Singing the "Alphabet song" is great, but also point to the letters in
random order. Play a letter finding game: Look through newspaper,
magazines, junk mail for all the letters of the alphabet, see if you can
find all 26!
*Practice recognizing the numbers 0 through 30 (in random order).
Play a number game: Write the numbers 1 through 30 on index cards or paper,
place the cards out of order on a table. Call out a number and see if your
child can find it. (Challenge: See if your child can put the cards in
order.)
*Practice writing your first and last name with a capital first letter and
the remaining letters in lowercase. (Do not worry about writing on a line
yet, writing on plain copy/printer paper is best right now!)
Name game: Write each letter of your child's name on index cards, place the
cards on the table in random order, see if he/she can put the cards in
correct order. Ask your child to tell you each letter of his/her name.
***Parents- READ, READ, READ to your child! Have your child read to you.
