Welcome Parents! My name is Mrs. Dana Vicellio and I am the school
counselor at Northwestern Elementary School. I received my B.S. in
Elementary Education from LSU in 1985. I received my Master's degree in
school counseling from LSU in 1995 and my Specialist degree in counseling
from LSU in 2005. I have been a counselor for 11 years now. Prior to this
I taught 4th, 2nd, and 3rd grade for 9 years. I am a National Certified
Counselor (NCC) and a National Certified School Counselor (NCSC). I am
currently working toward becoming a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)and
hope to begin work toward a doctorate in counseling in 2008. I love working
with children and would be happy to talk with you about any concerns you may
have about your child. I offer individual and small group counseling for
our students as well as whole class guidance lessons once a month. I am also
the School Building Level Committee Coordinator/504 Coordinator and set up
(SBLC) meetings any time there is a concern about a child.
In accordance with the American School Counseling Association's National
Model, Northwestern Elementary's School Counseling Program strives to
promote academic development, career development, and personal/social
development by helping to establish a climate in which the school, parents
and community emphasize academic excellence, a sense of responsibility and
respect, and the development of a better understanding of oneself and
others. Furthermore, Northwestern Elementary's School Counseling Program
supports the mission of the Zachary Community School Board in striving to
assist every student in reaching his or her maximum potential through high-
quality instruction and good stewardship of community resources.
