December 18, 2009 Thank you for all the wonderful Christmas presents and birthday wishes. Your thoughtfulness is truly appreciated. I am so blessed to teach such a wonderful group of students. Have a Merry Christmas! December 1, 2009 A student is missing a hooded sweatshirt with the OLPS logo on the front. It has either "Dillon" or "Dalton" written on the tag. Please check to see if you have this sweatshirt. Thank you!! Also, I have a boy's uniform shirt size M Youth. It doesn't have a name on the tag. October 26, 2009 The SE states test has been moved to next Tuesday. A parent sent a link to me that contains games to help learn the state capitals. I added it under "Links". Check it out! October 9, 2009 We are having some problems with boys getting their school uniforms "mixed- up" when they change for P.E. One student is missing a size 9 slim pant and a magnetic belt. A size 7 pant has been turned in and needs to be claimed. Please check your child's uniforms to see if there are any that do not belong to them. As always, please label ALL uniforms. Thank you for your help! October 1, 2009 Those students who were ready for the English test were allowed to take it today. September 30, 2009 Due to the extended Mass and Pep-Rally tomorrow, the Englsih test has been changed to Friday! September 16, 2009 The English test was on the test schedule for Thursday and on the weekly news page for Friday. Therefore I will allow the students to take the test on Thursday OR Friday. September 11, 2009 FALL FESTIVAL BASKET Reminder: The theme for the second grade "Fall Festival" basket is LSU. Any LSU items to put in the basket would be greatly appreciated! The sale of the baskets help to raise alot of money for OLPS. If you would like to donate, please send the items to school with your child. Thank you for your support! Also, PE classes will begin next week. Our class has PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please send your child's PE uniform with them to school on these days. September 9, 2009 Our room mother, Amy Juneau, had given me a flyer/sign up sheet for "Teacher Treats" to hand out to the students. I apologize for not getting them out today. Please look for them to go home tomorrow and be returned on Friday, September 11. She is asking for help to provide food for the Luncheon planned for September 23. Thank you! September 4, 2009 HAVE A FUN AND SAFE LABOR DAY WEEKEND! September 3, 2009 STUDYING FOR TESTS: It is to your discretion as to when you want your student to start studying for an upcoming test. I will only make it a formal assignment to study the night before. If you would like your student to bring home materials to study ahead of time, please make a note in their student planner to remind them. They may bring home ANY books you would like. August 26, 2009 Please be aware that I write homework assignments on the board everyday and give the students ample time to write them down. I also write on the board what to bring home. It is the students' responsibility to have what they need to complete their homework each night. It is our goal in second grade to help the students become more independent. I am always available to answer the students' questions during our "pack-up" time if they need. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you! August 26, 2009 Please note that class work may be picked up for a grade in any subject at anytime. Please talk with your student about the importance of doing their work correctly. August 24, 2009 On graded papers and tests, students will receive 1 point off for not putting their name or number. Also, 1 point will be deducted for incorrectly spelling words that are provided for them on tests.
