Listed below are some of the skills we have been focusing on this 9 weeks. Please review and work on these skills with your child so that when we check the students, they will be ready. This nine weeks ends December 18.

middle sound in a 3 letter word

beginning consonant sounds

final consonant sounds

color words

letter sounds for R, T, N, P, C, A, D, I, G, F, B, K, O, L, H

high frequency words (sight words) I, a, my, the, go, to, like, he, come, here, the, me, for, where, do, you, look, one, see

count to 20; write to 20 without a guide; recognize numbers to 20 in random order; recall to 20 in random order.

Recite the alphabet

REMINDERS:

Thursday - Book orders are due. I need to order them on Friday so that they will be in before the Christmas holidays.

Please be sure to put YOUR child's name on sweaters, jackets, sweatshirts, coats, etc. before they wear it to school. They get lost very easily and it helps if there is a name in it.

This week:

Reading -short o sound; identify word with a different beginning sound; review sight words and sounds; build sentences; blend sounds to make words.

We will continue learning color words: red, green, blue, black, brown, orange, yellow, purple, white, pink

Sight Words -new words for the week you & look - Review - to, the, my, I, a, like, go, he, come, here, this, me for, where, do

Math - numbers 1-20; students should be able to recognize these numbers in random order. They should also be able to write down the number when called out. We will also practice counting objects to 20.

Religion - Advent

Social Studies- Christmas

Fine Motor Skills - We will continue to work on fine motor skills, such as writing and cutting all year.

Homework- Practice identifying beginning, middle, and ending sounds in short words. Practice sounding out short words. Practice finding sight words in sentences. Please be sure to look at papers sent home in your child's folder. This is one way to see how your child is progressing. If your child has corrections on his/her paper, please go over that skill with your child.

-Always review sounds we have learned. So far we have learned Mm, Ss, Rr, Tt, Nn, Pp, Cc, Aa(short sound), Dd, Ii(short sound), Gg, Ff, Bb, Kk, Oo

-Review sight words- to,the, my, I, a, go, like, he, come, here, this, me, for, where, do, you, look

-Practice color word recognition

-Practice writing neatly. Always do your best work!
