Theme 4 Lesson 17

"Two Bear Cubs"

Genre:  Play - a story that can be performed for an audience.
Focus Skills:  *Comparing/Contrasting & **Prefixes/Suffixes
*When you compare, you tell how two things are alike.  Clue words that 
signal how things are alike include same, both, similar, like, and as well 
as.  When you contrast, you tell how two things are different.  Clue words 
that signal that two words are different include however, unlike, and but.

**Prefixes are letters or syllables added to the beginning of a root word.  
Suffixes are letters or syllables added to the end of a root word.  When a 
prefix or suffix is added, a new word with a new meaning is formed.

Common prefixes:  re- "to do again"  example:  reread (to read again)
               un - "not"         example:  unhappy (not happy)

Common suffixes:  -ful "full of"  example:  powerful (full of power)
             -less "without"     example:  clueless (without a clue)

and praise.
