Dear Parents,

We had a great week reviewing all the letters we have covered so far! The
children really enjoyed sharing all about their favorite letter and sound. We
are moving into our "busy" time of the year. Things will probably get a
little crazy in Pre-K for the next few weeks! We are going to have so much
fun.

This week in Language Arts, we will meet our new puppet friend Inky Inchworm
as we begin letter Ii. "Our puppet story is about Inky Inchworm and his
incredible troubles. There are many things that make life impossible for
Inky. The inn where Inky lives is full of insects, crying infants, and noisy
musical instruments. Whenever Inky becomes disturbed he cries out "Icky,
icky, icky." Ivan the Eskimo builds an igloo where it is peaceful and quiet
for Inky. Inky thanks Ivan by inviting him to his igloo for ice cream". We
will cut out our letter I, pin punch letter Ii, and make all sorts of
interesting projects.

We will also begin our study of Thanksgiving and focus on Indians. We will
focus on what we are thankful for during this time and how we can give to
others and work together as the Pilgrams and Indians did. We will learn about
Indian traditions and their role in the first Thanksgiving. The children will
make an Indian vest, Indian necklace and headband. They will choose an Indian
name and best of all they will get to play in the tee pee in our classroom.
It is incredibly awesome! We will also make cornbread on Friday and discuss
how the Indians ate corn and cornmeal everyday. We will practice our
raindance around the carpet and pretend we have our own Indian village in Pre-
K 3!

In Math we will cover number 7, "across the sky and down from heaven, that's
the way we make a 7". We will cut out number 7 and glue on 7 feathers, pin
punch number 7 and practice sequencing and matching objects.

This should be a very busy week. Please ask questions about the Indians and
let your child tell you all they know about these wonderful people!

Please remember that the weather is getting cooler and the children may need
a sweatshirt or jacket for recess. We try to go out every chance we get!

Thanks again and let me know if you need anything!

PreK Christmas Program
This is an annual program where we honor the Holy Family and celebrate the
birth of Jesus. All of our little girls will be adorable angels, and our
precious boys will be shepherds. We have all of the shepherd robes for the
boys, but our angels will need a white dress and robe, white tights, and
white shoes. No halos or wings needed! There will be lots of information
coming your way as the date draws near.
