Mission

Our Lady of Divine Providence School’s mission is to provide a Christian family environment, promote excellence in education and develop each child to his fullest potential. We embrace the philosophy “To Teach as Jesus Did”. Our program offers a loving and caring environment in which our students are encouraged to develop a positive self-image. Using developmentally appropriate methods, the faculty endeavors to meet each child’s spiritual, intellectual, physical, cultural, social and emotional needs. The faculty fosters the desire for the children to acquire the needed skills for future success.


Admission

Our Lady of Divine Providence School/Nursery under the auspices of the Archdiocese of New Orleans admits student without regard to race, sex, color, or national or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school /facility. OLDP does not discriminate on the basis of policies, scholarship or loan programs, admission policies, or other administered programs. All students are admitted to the school with the understanding and on the condition that they will be able to meet the requirements of school life.

 

Program Variations

The following variations are offered to children attending OLDP Nursery: Five full days/week and Three full days/week.

Class Size

OLDP Nursery maintains class size according to the regulations as prescribed by the Louisiana Department of Social Services, Department of Licensing.

The following records are required for all new students in order to process and complete registration:

Birth Certificate

Baptism Certificate

Immunization Records

            NB- 2 months…Hepatitis B#1

            2 months………DTaP#1, 1PV#1, Hib#1.PCV#1 & Hepatitis B#2

            4 months………DTaP#2, IPV#2, Hib#2& PCV #2

            6 months……….DTaP#3, Hib#3, & PCV#3

            6-18 months……IPV #3, Hepatitis B#3, and influenza (Annual)

            12-15 months…..MMR #1, Hib#4, & PCV #4

            12-18 months…..Var

            15-18 months….. DTaP#4

            24 months……… Influenza (Annual) & Hep A Series

Discipline

The ultimate goal of discipline is instruction. Love, patience, and consistency are the keys to the development of positive attitudes in children. We employ the following procedures and techniques in order to achieve that goal: redirection, time-out, consultation with Parents. Corporal Punishment IS NOT USED in any form.

 

Curriculum Focus

The curriculum of OLDP Nursery will encourage the development of the total child. Activities and experiences will focus on the development of the gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and social development. All concepts and skills that are embedded in the curriculum are based on educational research that has consistently proven the strong correlation between the quality of early childhood experiences and later academic success.
