Hello, my name is Erica Moses. I teach music, keyboard, and I direct the
chorus and the Orff Ensemble at Pine View Middle School. I consider myself
extraordinary because I teach every child at Pine View. Wow! How many
teachers can say that? It makes me feel so good when a child's face lights
up with joy when they have experienced music. I have been teaching for 13
years and I enjoy sharing music with others. I enjoy gospel, jazz, classical,
blues, reggae, pop, R&B, just to name a few.
I'm thankful for Mrs. Jan Summerall,my kindergarten teacher, who introduced
me to music and the piano at an early age. She was one of my teachers that
inspired me to explore music. I've earned my Bachelor's degree in Music
Education (piano) with a minor in voice from Southern University in Baton
Rouge, La. In the near future I am planning on earning another degree in
Administration. I have a beautiful sixteen year old daughter, Diamond, who
keeps me busy.
Besides teaching music at school, I also give private piano lessons to
students after school. I am also a full-time minister of music for a church
within the community. Out of all of that, I still find the time to cheer for
my favorite college team, Southern University Jaguars!!! Go Jags!!!!
I believe that children should be able to express themselves through the art
of music. Music is a universal language which everyone speaks differently.
No matter the mood of a child, there is a song that can express his/her
feelings. What would the world be like without music?
Scientists have studied kids who are actively involved in music. It is
proven that kids which are actively involved in music are well-rounded
individuals. So get involved with MUSIC!!!!
