Mrs. Carolyn Bagur, formerly, Carolyn Webb , has been a choral
director since 1994. Each year her choirs have competed with great success
at parish, district ,state and since last year national levels.
Mrs. Bagur taught at Fontainebleau Junior High, for 7 years. Before
coming ot FJH she taugh junior and sr. high in the Alexandria/Pineville
area. There she taught Choir, Spanish and Fine Arts Survey for 4.5
years. Mrs. Bagur is happy to return to her Alma Mater at Ponchatoula
High in Janaury of 2006.
Mrs. Bagur graduated from Ponchatoula High School 1990. She
graduated with a Bachelor's of Music Education in vocal music and a
secondary emphasis in piano from Louisiana College in Pineville 1994.
She is working towards her Masters in Music Education with emphasis
in conducting from Northwestern in Natchitoches. Mrs. Bagur has over
27 years experience in piano and studied with Mary Ann Crump at
Louisiana College. She also has played the organ for 15 years and
currently learning the violin .
Mrs. Bagur has performed all over the world including St. Basil’s
Cathedral in Moscow, Russia and Carnegie Hall in New York
among other noteable places. In college she studied voice with Dr.
Cleamon Downs , Mrs. Pat Lacey & Martina Arroyo from the New York
Metropolitian Opera. She currently trains with vocal coaches Chris
Beatty and Kim Woods Sandusky in Nashville several times a year and
passes much of that training on to her chorus students in daily
rehearsals. Mrs. Bagur focuses on teaching strong fundamental
singing techniques, vocal health along with the concept of speach-level
singing.
Mrs. Bagur is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, American Choral
Directors Associaton, LA Music Educators Association, GMA and serves as adjudicator and clinician
to various music events in Louisiana.
Mrs. Bagur released a CD single in December of 2005 with Creative Soul
Records, Eric Copeland - producer . Her first song off the cd, Unworthy"
was released in August 2006 to 1200 radio stations across the country
and parts of Canada. Her second song "Because He Loves Me" was released to
radio Summer of 2007. She has released her second CD in June of 2008. She sings each weekend at
Church of the King as part of their Creative Arts team. Her and her husband host a songwriter's
night
the 3rd Friday of each month at St. John's Coffeehouse in Covington.
Mrs. Bagur resides her husband who is also professional musician and their children.
Music is food for the soul. Without music our soul dies.
