About The Teacher
This is my 12th year teaching. I taught 2nd grade my first year and the remainder of my years I have been in 4th grade (with one semester of Pre-K in between). This is my first year in 5th grade and I am so excited! I grew up in Slidell. After graduating from Slidell High, I moved to Lafayette and attended UL (I still call it USL). After graduating from USL, I married my husband, and soon thereafter returned to Slidell. We moved to Pearl River about 4 years ago and absolutely love it! I have two children, Maggie-10 and Gretchen-9. I enjoy being able to teach at the same school they attend. Both of my girls are involved in competition dancing, so that is what we spend most of our time doing-practicing and traveling. As a family we also enjoy 4-wheel riding, camping, playing sports, and traveling.

Mission
My goal as a teacher is to put a smile on a child's face because they finally realize "THEY GOT IT!!!" I saw a quote years ago and try to teach by it. Although this is not the exact quote, it conveys the message well-If a child cannot learn in the way you are teaching, then you need to teach in the way he CAN learn. Each child is unique and deserves to be treated that way. Every opinion in my class counts. Social skills as well as academic skills are taught in my classroom everyday. If we don't teach our children to treat others with respect, they will never respect themselves. I learn from them everyday, just as they learn from me. I hope that every child leaves my class with at least one experience that he/she will use later in life!
