My name is Joanna Powell, and I will have the pleasure of partnering with you
as we develop your child’s Math and Health skills this year. I am so pleased
to have your child in my class! I look forward to making your acquaintance.
A little about me:
Family:
I have been married for 10 years. We have a son who is 5 years old and a
daughter who is 6 months old. My family and I enjoy reading together, finding
bugs in the backyard, and playing basketball! My mother-in-law is a former
Riverside teacher so I am carrying on the family tradition!
Teaching:
I have taught for 12 years and have loved every minute! When I was a senior
in high school, I decided to become a teacher. In fact, I wrote the following
in my senior book "My future plan is to become a third grade teacher!" Those
dreams became a reality...I did teach third grade when I first began
teaching! So cool! Dreams do come true!!
I am a teacher mentor for Caddo Parish. I also have a Master's Degree in
Supervision and Administration.
Hobbies:
I love to spend time with my family and friends! Two of my sisters do not
live in Louisiana, so we always SKYPE, email and text...I guess one
of my hobbies is texting! :) I also love to scrapbook and crosstitch.

Candy: anything fruity but not sour (Starburst, Skittles)
