Pay particular attention to find out if there is a separate scholarship application, find out the deadline to apply, see if they offer any special scholarships, i.e. departmental scholarships, leadership scholarships, etc...

AES ENGINEERS SCHOLARSHIP: Will be awarding $500 to the winner(s) each year. Students will submit an essay on one of the two topics that appear on the scholarship page of our web site http://www.aesenginners.com/scholarships.htm. The deadline is October 4, 2013.

2014 Most Valuable Student Scholarship Contest-Elks National Foundation, Inc.:

The Cool Doctor Foundation is established to honor Christopher Condon, who planned to be a doctor if he had survived childhood cancer. He was inspired by some of the wonderful and caring people who treated him, and stated that he was going to be a COOL doctor, one the patients would look forward to seeing, one who would be straight forward and personable and likeable. This $1,000 scholarship is for one Salmen High School senior. Please submit a 1 page description of your plans in the medical field. Be sure to show your "cool" factor! SALMEN HIGH SCHOOL PTSA SCHOLARSHIP Award: $500. Applicant and/or his/her parents MUST be current PTSA members and attach a copy of membership card to application. Criteria: minimum 3.0 GPA or be in top 1/3 of class at end of first semester; must have participated in at least one school activity. Applicant must submit Scholarship application, written essay, two teacher evaluation forms and official high school transcripts. Applications are available in the Guidance office. SLIDELL WOMEN’S PETROLEUM CLUB SCHOLARSHIP awarded to a female high school senior planning a career in the Petroleum Industry. Must also demonstrate an active involvement in community service through school, church, or other service oriented groups and maintain high academic standards. Deadline is April 1, 2014. Alexis Keoka Marie Wilkins Foundation Scholarship: Based on academic performance, community involvement, and the quality of the essay submitted. The deadline is March 28. Four recommendations are required.

ST. TAMMANY CANCER FUND SCHOLARSHIP

ALFRED AND ALIX DUBUISSON SCHOLARSHIP FUND:  Will be awarding a $1000 scholarship. Eligibility:  3.0 in TOPS core, community service, school involvement, plans to enroll in a LA state universtiy.  Applications are available in Guidance. Deadline:  April 1.


ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SCHOLARSHIP:  Must have 2.5 GPA on 4.0 scale and plan on going to a LA college in the fall.  Pick up application in Guidance.  Deadline:  January 31.


AMERICAN BUSINESS WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
sponsored by the Camellia Charter Chapter of the ABWA.  Must plan on furthering education, have a 2.0 GPA, and demonstrate financial need.  Deadline is March 27.  Pick up application from Guidance.

 

 

BOBBY FLETCHER, SR. SCHOLARSHIP - Award: $1000 (non-renewable). Criteria: Pursuing a career in an agricultural or horticultural related field (veterinarian, horticulture, home economics, etc.). JAS-PAT FRITCHIE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  The Junior Auxiliary of Slidell is offering four $1,000 scholarships, from the JAS-Pat Fritchie Memorial Scholarship Fund, to seniors from public high schools in the Slidell area.  For more information call (985) 641-4519 or e-mail csbathome@charter.net.  To pick up an application please visit the guidance office.  The deadline for receiving applications is April 1.


CHRIS DUHON STAND TALL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP:  Open to all seniors who have a 3.0 GPA, completed their junior and senior year in St. Tammany Parish Schools and demonstrate an outstanding commitment to their community or school.  Pick up application in Guidance Office.  Deadline is 3/31. Award is $5,000 to be awarded in four payments of $1250 each fall semester of college.

 

CREOLES SANS LIMITES SCHOLARSHIP Award: $500 (1). Criteria: Attend high school in the Slidell, Lacombe or Pearl River area, minimum 2.5 GPA and financial need. See counselor for an application. Deadline (postmark): April 20.

DELTA KAPPA GAMMA SCHOLARSHIP - RHO CHAPTER The purpose of this scholarship is to provide funds for 1 year to a female student graduating from a St. Tammany Parish High School who has made a definite decision to further her education at a university or college. Criteria: Cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher; possess good character and ambitious purpose; 3 recommendation letters; essay. See counselor for an application. Deadline: April 7.

 

 

EBS PEARL RIVER STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP is specifically for students who plan to declare science as a degree area of study at Southeastern Louisiana University. Must have 3.0 GPA and a required ACT score.  Application due by March 15.  Pick up application in Guidance. 

Epsilon Sigma Alpha Foundation Scholarship (ESA):  You can apply for three scholarships through this website. GPA:  3.0; ACT 22 or SAT 1030.  Character, leadership, financial need, and academic all considered.  To apply www.esaintl.com/esaf/scholarship_application.html   Deadline is February 1.

GEORGE ANNE MAGEE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a Salmen graduating senior.  He/she must have a 3.0 GPA, must exhibited good leadership, character, and service during high school, and exhibit evidence of financial need.  The student must also have been enrolled in Salmen at least during the entire junior and senior year.  Applications are available in Guidance. Due April 30.  

 

 

 

HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION—Deadline in October each year

Fifty $10,500 scholarships are available to students who are enrolled full-time as a senior in high school, plan to attend Loyola, McNeese, Tulane, UNO, or Xavier, are involved in the community, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, and have serious financial need. JOHN CURTIS THOMPSON MUSIC AND ATHLETICS SCHOLARSHIP: Award is $500.  Open to Salmen High students who are band members and/or involved in some type of athletics. Applications in Guidance.  Deadline April 1.
 

JUNIOR AUXILIARY of SLIDELL PAT FRITCHIE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:   The Junior Auxiliary of Slidell is accepting applications for their $1,000 scholarship. Applications are located in the Guidance Office.  The scholarships are paid directly to the student. Deadline is  March 28 for receiving applications.

KARLA MADISON NEUHAUSER SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to a Salmen senior pursuing a degree in education. He/she must have a 3.0 GPA and three recommendations.  Deadline:  April 1.



KELLER WILLIAMS REALTY PROFESSIONALS
award $1,000 to one student from each of the five Slidell area high schools.  250 word essay and 2 recommendation letters are needed.  Due date is May 1.  Pick up application from Guidance.

KEN & SUSAN COOPER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP—Award $1000 Presented by the Rotary Club of Stennis Space Center. Preference to students planning careers in Hydrography, the Marine Sciences, or a related field. Students will also have to show evidence of service to their local community. To apply for the scholarship, students will be required to write a single-page essay on themselves, their academic achievements, service projects within their community in which they participated, and service projects they might pursue in college. LA RURAL WATER ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
For students pursuing a career in the water or wastewater career field. They must reside on a water system that is a member of the LRWA. Applications can be downloaded at www.lrwa.org to be typed and returned by March 1st to the LRWA office.

LACOMBE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP Award: Not Stated. Criteria: Resident of Lacombe (zip code 70445); attend a LA college, community college or technical school; 2.5 GPA; recommendation letters; essay. Application is available from counselor. Deadline (receiving): April 11.


LELA
Students: Register to win a $1,000 scholarship at www.askLela.org.  Register each month. There is a drawing for the winner on the last day of each quarter. Four winners will be selected randomly.    


LEONARD P. MONTELEONE, JR. SCHOLARSHIP
--Must enroll in a LA state-funded university. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA in TOPS core curriculum. Amount $1,000 Due April 1.

 

LeTENDRE EDUCATION FUND Scholarship is available to students who are homeless or have been homeless during their school attendance and have demonstrated average or higher than average achievement.  Essay required.  Pick up application in Guidance.  Deadline is September 17.

LOUISIANA AFL-CIO will award three $1,000 scholarships.  Applications must be POSTMARKED by Feb. 12th.  Pick up details in Guidance.

 

LOUISIANA LIFE SAFETY & SECURITY ASSOCIATION, Inc. --- Scholarships are available to sons and daughters of active-duty Law Enforcement and Fire Service Personnel. www.llssa.org

 LOUISIANA SOLID WASTE Dr. Gordon P. Boutwell, Jr. Memorial Scholarship:  Essay of 150-200 words, three letters of recommendation.  Deadline is January 31.

LSPS SCHOLARSHIP – The Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors Education Foundation offers a $1,000 scholarship for students planning to attend Nicholls State University.  Get application from counselor.  Deadline is March 1.

MICHELLE KONECHNE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to a student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, is an internship program participant and is involved with children.  Applications are due April 1st.  Pick up application from Guidance.


MILDRED CLARK NELSON SCHOLARSHIP
Award: $500. Criteria: female graduate; minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA; planning to major in one of the following areas: Life Sciences, Horticulture, Botany, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Agriculture, Plant Science, Conservation, Agriculture Sciences or other allied health subjects; 300 word essay; two recommendation letters; resume. NILES GAMMON-KNOX RISHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to a Salmen graduating senior. The recipient must have participated in the athletic program in varsity sports at Salmen High. A 2.0 GPA is required, and three letters of recommendation are needed. Deadline:  April 30.

NORTHSHORE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER SCHOLARSHIP Award: $2000 (2). Criteria: Planning to pursue a career in the healthcare field; 2.5 cumulative GPA; demonstrated community involvement; two recommendation letters from persons who can verify community involvement. PEO Chapter AY Scholarship:  Must be female with at least 2.7 GPA.  Good moral background.  50 word essay required.  Applications are available in Guidance.

SHELL MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP: Must enroll at LSU (or another approved university) and enroll in the petrochemical field (geology, geophysics, physics, chemical engineering or petroleum engineering).  Deadline is February 16.  Pick up application in Guidance.

SIGMA PHI EPSILON FRATERNITY (Louisiana Beta chapter at LSU) announces their Balanced Man Scholarships.  Three are awarded:  $1,000, $500, $250.  All male seniors who are enrolling in LSU are encouraged to apply.  Based on the following four categories:  Scholar, Athlete, Leader and Gentleman.  Deadline is February 26, 2010.  Pick up application in Guidance.

SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA UNIVERSITY PROGRESSION SCHOLARSHIP

If you are planning to graduate with a bachelor's degree in 4 years, this scholarship will help fund a portion of your tuition and fees and enabling you to study more and work less. ST. TAMMANY HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPOpen to students in St. Tammany or Washington Parish and attending a certified college (public, private, vocational or technical) in Louisiana. The number and value of the awards are based on the proceeds from the tournament and will determined by the committee. Minimum GPA - 2.75. Consideration will be given to those choosing to pursue a degree related to the homebuilding industry. UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI
, Hattiesburg, MS. USM has a number of scholarship opportunities available to incoming freshmen including the Regional Award. Regional Scholars are allowed to waive out-of-state tuition with an earned 3.5 GPA and a 24+ on the ACT.
