About The Teacher

Lieutenant Colonel Ken Kimberly retired from the US Army in 1993 after more 
than 29+ years service to his country.  After Basic Combat Training in 1964, 
then Private Kimberly was assigned to the 8th Infantry Division, Baumholder, 
Germany.  Colonel Kimberly applied for, and was accepted, for the Combat 
Engineer Officer Candidate School, Fort Belvoir, VA.  Colonel Kimberly was 
commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1966.  Colonel Kimberly's first 
assignment as an officer was to the 2d Infantry Division, Republic of 
Korea.  From Korea, Colonel Kimberly deployed to the Republic of Vietnam.  
Most of Colonel Kimberly's other assignments were states-side.  He did 
deployments to Korea, Egypt, Honduras, and participated in Operation Desert 
Storm in 1991 (Suadi Arabia & Kuwait).  After a variety of command and staff 
asignments, Colonel Kimberly culminated his military career with an 
assignment at the Pentagon as a Program Analyst. Colonel Kimberly received 
his Bachelors Degree from Bradley University, Peoria, IL.  He completed 30+ 
semester hours toward a non-specific masters degree (Business 
Administration, National Security, and Logistics).

Colonel Kimberly has been married more than 40 years, has two married adult 
children, and five grandchildren. 

JROTC Experience:  Colonel Kimberly brings more than 15 years of Army JROTC 
Instructor experience to Salmen High (hire date - July 1, 2005).  
Immediately prior to coming to Salmen High, he spent eleven years at Hammond 
High School Army JROTC(Tangipahoa Parish), and, one year at Joseph Samuel 
Clark Senior High School, New Orleans.

Mission For The Class

The overarching mission of Army JROTC is to "MOTIVATE YOUNG PEOPLE TO BE 
BETTER CITIZENS!"  JROTC is a Leadership, Character, and Citizenship 
Development program.  
JROTC Goals are:
PROMOTE CITIZENSHIP AND PATRIOTISM
COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY
IMPROVE PHYSICAL FITNESS
PROVIDE INCENTIVE TO LIVE DRUG FREE
