Painting a Master Copy

VA-HP-H6     Identify representative visual artists of various cultures and compare their lives, careers, works, and influence.

Objectives:

 

 

 

Select, and research a Master Artist (painter) and one of their works to copy as a painting. To understand more about artist, art period and style of painting. Completion of oil pastel study of Master Copy and begin their painting. Start and work on (over a 9 week period) an independent project at home.

Resources and Materials:

 

 

 

Art textbook, library, and internet. Copy of artist work: ruler, yard stick, calculator, acrylic paint, paint brushes, heavy brown craft paper or canvas.  

Differentiation:

 

 

 

Select appropriate materials, and computation of work to be increased to not less than 40x30 inches.

Preparing Students for the Lesson:

·         Transitions

·         Expected behaviors

 

Practice scale increase for reproducing a work of art. Getting the math correct before drawing. 

Assessment:

 

 

 

 

Independent and assisted selection of artist, layout, drawing and painting of a Master copy. 9 week project must be brought to school every two (2) weeks due on Fridays.
