VA-CE-H7     Maintain a sketchbook or journal and develop a portfolio. (1,4)

Objectives:

Select, and research a Master Artist (painter) and one of their works to copy in charcoal. To understand more about artist, art period and style of painting. Capturing the detail. Start Oil Pastel drawing of Master copy techniques using oil pastels for color study.

Resources and Materials:

Art textbook, library, and internet. Copy of artist work, ruler, yard stick, calculator, gray 60 lb. drawing paper, Oil psteels

Differentiation:

Select appropriate materials, and computation of work to be reduced to 18X24 inchesn for oil pastel drawing.

Preparing Students for the Lesson:

Practice scale reduction for reproducing a work of art. Getting the math correct before drawing. Mixing colors you see not what you know.

Assessment:

Independent and assisted selection of artist, layout and drawing of a copy. .Looking for the details in color...getting the color right. Uising the correct techniques.
