Geometry

Teacher: L. Tran           Subject: Geometry           Week: 11/02/09

Weekly Overview:

Unit Description: Parallel Lines and Transversals

Essential Questions: What is nature’s geometry? How can man use nature’s geometry to improve his environment?

Resources/Materials: Textbook, Transparencies, Workbook

Standards/Benchmarks/GLEs: Form and test conjectures concerning geometric relationships including lines, angles, and polygons, with and without technology. [G-1-H] Determine angle measurements using the properties of parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting lines in a plane. (G-2-H)

Objectives:

The learner will prove and use results about parallel lines and transversals.

The learner will use properties of parallel lines to solve real-life problems.

What strategies will I use to address literacy this week? Students will use professor-know-it all to explain: The relationship between corresponding angles is stated as a postulate, but the relationships between alternate interior angles and alternate exterior angles are stated as theorems. Explain the difference.
