Weekly Overview:

Unit Description:  Linear Relations- solving equations

Essential Questions:

·         What kinds of real life situations can be modeled by linear relationships?

·         Which format for representing a linear relationship is most appropriate for a given situation?

·         Why is it important to be able to express relationships as equations?  What information is needed in order to write these equations?

·         How do changes in equations lead to changes in graphs?

Resources/Materials:

·      ELMO,  Projector

·        Writing Equations: Graphs and Equations Activity ( Practice 4.5)

·        TI- 83 Plus and TI Presenter

·        Practice Workbook with examples

Standards/Benchmarks/GLEs: 5, 15, 23, 25, 26, 37, 39, 40

Objectives:

TSW rewrite equations in standard form given many types of equations.

TSW relate the three different types of equations to a graph. Slope-intercept, point-slope, and standard form.
