General InfoIt is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to St. Clement of Rome's Pre-Kindergarten 4! I know that you are just as eager as I am to make your child's school experience be a rewarding one this year! In order for our class to run smoothly, there are a few guidelines we ask you to follow:
ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL: - Doors open at 7:40 A.M. All students must use the carpool line to enter through the main door on Cleary Ave. Our school day begins promptly at 7:55 A.M. and ends at 2:50 P.M. - Children who arrive after the door is closed (7:55 A.M.) need to go to the school office for a tardy slip. Office personnel will then walk your child with the tardy slip back to the Pre-K building.
- For safety reasons, please do not get out of your car in the carpool line and refrain from using your cell phone. We will help your child in and out of your car so car seats need to be placed on the passenger side.
- If you know your child will not be in school the entire day, please send a note so that we may be prepared for an early dismissal.
HEALTH: - Children who are ill should not attend school. In the event of a communicable disease, the parent should notify the school as to the nature of the specific disease. A signed note from a physician is required before a child can be readmitted to school after a communicable disease. - The red St. Clement of Rome folder is a very important tool of communication. Folders should be checked daily, emptied, and returned the next school day. - Please look over the work that your child has done that day. Parental interest is vital to the educational development of your child. In addition, all notices will be sent home in this folder. SNACKS:
- Your child should bring a snack every day for our mid-morning break. Snacks should be quick, nutritious finger food that does not make a mess (please no pudding or fruit cups). Suggested snacks include: Cheerios or other cereal, fresh fruit, crackers, cheese, and granola bars. - Please pack snacks in a baggie or paper bag separate from your child's lunch with your child's name clearly marked. LUNCH:
- Your child may buy a hot lunch or bring his/her lunch. We request that your child use a lunch box clearly labeled with his/her name on the outside if they choose to bring a lunch from home. No canned soft drinks are allowed. - Lunch will be served daily in the cafeteria. Monthly lunch menus are available for viewing on the school website. Payment of lunches is a debit system. A notice will be sent home from the cafeteria when additional funds are needed in your child's lunch account. If your child is bringing his/her lunch from home, milk may be purchased from the cafeteria with available funds from their lunch account. NAP TIME:
- Your child will have a regular nap time every afternoon for approximately one hour. All mats will be sent home on Fridays to be washed and returned on the next school day. UNIFORMS:
- On P.E. days, girls are expected to wear the uniform shorts and may add tights on cold days. Boys will wear their uniform shorts or slacks on cold days. - Mark all outwear clothing with your child's name, especially sweatshirts, sweaters, coats, and jackets. (Use a Rub-A-Dub black marker and names will not wash out.)
- Please refer to the SCR Handbook (back of the school calendar) for other uniform details.
REPORT CARDS: - Report cards are issued in January after the completion of the first semester and again at the end of the school year. These reports reflect your child's progress in work habits, readiness skills, and social development. PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES:
- Parent/Teacher conferences are held twice a year. - Each appointment is scheduled for 10 minutes. If additional time is needed, we can arrange to meet again at a later date. ALL-SCHOOL MASS:
- Parents are invited to join us and sit with your child. When facing the altar, PreK 4 sits on the far right side of the church (closest to the baptismal font). MISSION MONEY and FEED THE HUNGRY:
- Mission money is collected throughout the year. Please place any donations in an envelope marked "MISSIONS." - Non-perishable food items are collected on the first Wednesday of each month for Feed the Hungry Day. BIRTHDAYS:
- Birthdays will be celebrated once a month on the first Friday that we are in school beginning in September. - Our room mother will contact all those who have birthdays during the month to coordinate the birthday treats which will be sent on that special day. - Because the birthday celebration will be fit into the schedule when time permits, parents are asked to simply drop off the items in the morning with their child. - No birthday/party invitations will be distributed on school grounds, as stated in the school calendar. SCHOOL CALENDAR:
- Each child and parent must sign and return the SCR Handbook Contract and Technology Form found on the last pages of the school calendar/handbook. - If at any time you are returning papers through a sibling that are needed by the office, please send a note to let us know. - Please refer to the school calendar often for school regulations, holidays, and other important information. NEWS FLASH:
- Please refer to my website nightly for the most current and crucial information.
