Mrs. Joint will teach religion, reading, math, spelling, and English to her
homeroom students and Mrs. Meilinger will teach them science and social
studies.
The doors of the school open at 7:40 A.M. with the school day
beginning at 7:55 A.M. It is most helpful if the students arrive early enough
to be unpacked and seated at the time of the start of the school day.
Afternoon dismissal will be at 3:05 P.M.
Our class webpage is updated frequently, so refer to it often at
http://teacherweb.com/LA/StClementofRome/MrsLindaJoint/NewsFlash.stm.
Consider signing up for the NEWSFLASH feature which will send an email when
important messages are posted. A schedule of activities can be found on our
webpage. This is helpful in scheduling appointments during the school day.
Please review the contents of the PAPERS TO TAKE HOME folder each
night and keep the day’s work at home.
Email messages sent to ljoint@scrschool.org or notes sent via the
students are the most efficient ways to contact Mrs. Joint.
Online Grades is a valuable feature on our school website which
allows parents check students’ current averages.
In the event of absence, the student’s assignment and books will be
sent to the office at the end of the day. Please arrange to pick them up
before the office closes.
Each student’s birthday will be recognized in class with a surprise
from the teacher!
Terra Nova Tests (standardized tests) are administered in the spring.
More information will be given as test time approaches.
HOMEWORK
Be sure to check the assignment pad nightly for homework. If there is a
question about a copied assignment access The Homework Site via our class web
page. Assignments are tentative until 3:30 P.M. on the day they are assigned
since changes are frequently made to The Homework Site.
Remember to update your profile on The Homework Site. You may also want to
add the names of your activity teachers and their subjects.
In the event that written homework is not completed or the child leaves it at
home, a HOMEWORK NOTICE is issued and must be returned with a parent’s
signature. In addition, the Rewards Card is punched for an incomplete
assignment. Students who have a 100% completion rate within a quarter will
merit the HOMEWORK HALL OF FAME list posted in the classroom.
Maintenance of a complete set of marked supplies (especially sharpened
pencils) is considered nightly homework. A supplies checklist is on our class
webpage.
TESTS
A test schedule can be found on The Homework Site and on the school's
homepage (see link). Tests in third grade are given in Religion, English,
Math, Reading, Spelling, Social Studies, and Science by the respective
teachers. Graded papers are sent home as quickly as possible and need not be
returned unless specified by the teacher. In the case of absence, tests are
made up the day the student returns to school. Extenuating circumstances for
make-up tests may be explained via written note or email from the parent in
order that other arrangements may be made.
Information regarding Quarterly tests will be given at the end of the first
quarter.
QUARTERLY GRADES
Quarterly grades are based on tests, exams, quizzes, homework, projects, and
participation. Extra credit is not an option for a disappointing average.
Tests/Projects 35%
Quizzes /Homework 30%
Exam 25%
Participation 10%
