ANGEL FUN DAY---PIRATE TREASURE WORDS

TIGER ROOM NEWS
GRACE, ISABELLA, RACHEL, PEYTON, ANDREW are on the "GOLD LIST".  You are in the lead!!!! As GOLD LIST children you are entering the SUPER BOWL of WORDS.  Thank you for being MVP PLAYERS!
VAUGH scored two touchdowns and BRANDON and MEGAN scored one touchdown.

MEANIE hopes to visit your home for Christmas. Please make room at you 'inn' for our class pet.  A simple invitation by Wednesday morning is all that is required.

GAVIN and his family will have the pleasure
of MEANIE as their guest.

SANTA and an ELF came and read the POLAR EXPRESS story to our class.  We had on our pajamas and held on to our train tickets.  The children wrote letters to Santa about what they hope to receive.  ANDREW'S MOM and DAD made this experience so entertaining.  Thank you for expanding our imagination and keeping the joy of Christmas alive. We all received  magical bells too!

Please be sure to remove the REINDEER FOOD from their red folder or school bag.  The baggie might break and you will find a mess.

I hope you enjoy your Christmas gift from your child.  The beautiful message of JOY (Jesus, Others, and Yourself) are a wonderful reminder about happiness.  We discussed the order or importance of each one to remind us to love and serve others.  Thank you for sharing your children with me each day.

LEONARDO is sharing his Christmas music with our class.
We dance with a partner in the afternoon before dismissal. I wish you could see the all the smiles and hear the laughter.
We like music with a fast beat --especially the Chipmunks!

TO OUR WONDERFUL PARENTS
A great big thank you from the bottom of our stomachs for the delicious TEACHER APPRECIATION LUNCHEON.
Our room mother, Stacey, continues to spoil us.  We greatly  appreciate the variety of food, desserts, and beverages.  We thank all the moms and dads for the food donations, time, and service.  You made us feel so special!

CHRISTMAS SURPRISES
Thank you RACHEL for the precious snowman cookie.  He looks too adorable to eat!  Your stickers for the class will add so much to our test papers.  You are an angel!
Hugs to LEONARDO for the POLAR EXPRESS DVD and the personalized initial case.  Thanks to you I have my own copy to share with future angel classes.  What a blessing you are to others. YUMMY and thoughtful---JACOB with the delicious peanut butter and chocolate sweet treat!  You all have the spirit of giving!

JACOB,
Thank you for the snack baggies and large baggies.
We will use the snack baggies for reindeer food.
You are so generous with gifts for your friends.

SANTA'S HELPER MYSTERY READER
KYLE'S MOM (dressed as an elf) came on Monday and read Elf on the Shelf to the class.  Santa delivered the 'magical elf' to her home because she is our room mother.
Well, the elf book explained how the 'magical elf' travels around each day.  The children will search for the elf each morning.  This elf reports to Santa about the behavior of each child.  Since we are the Angel Class, I am sure ONLY good news will be reported to the North Pole.
KYLE, give your mom lots of hugs for the Santa hats for your friends. Our room mom brings so much joy!

ROSIE, thank you for the JOY stocking filled with mints.
You are so sweet!  Thank you for sharing the snow globe and the princess stickers too.

MARYROSE, thank you for the delicious candy canes for your friends in class.  You are so thoughtful!

MYSTERY READER- CAMILLE'S MOM
She read two books from the author Jan Brett--The Mitten and Gingerbread Cookies.  Thank you for the fun art activities to go along with the stories.  The children appreciate your visit and gifts.

Counting my blessings to our Room mother (KYLE'S
Mom and Religion Art Mom (CATHERINE'S) Mom for providing religious projects for our children.  On Monday the children made Advent Wreaths which were sprayed and cut by CATHERINE'S mom.  We are so grateful to you!
KYLE'S mom provided the candles.  I hope each family is saying prayers around the dinner table and lighting one candle each week.  We do this every morning in class.
Some moms came to school to help with this project:
GAVIN'S mom, ROSIE'S mom, and GRACE'S mom.

On Tuesday, our Guardian Angel Moms returned with another religious project.  CATHERINE'S mom sprayed the GOOD DEED BASKETS and KYLE'S mom provided the 'designer' baby JESUS sticks.  Each child decorated and dressed baby Jesus and placed Him in the basket.  Gold straw paper will be added with each good deed or Act of Kindness. Your child will write down the deed and place it under Jesus to make His crib more comfortable.  I hope you benefit with these good deeds at home too. Other moms that came to help were: ERIC'S mom, ISABELLA'S mom, and PEYTON'S mom.

On Thursday we ate CHRISTMAS CANDY CANES and learned all the symbols.  Ask your angel to explain what each symbol means:  white color, thick red stripe, three thin red stripes, J for Jesus, staff shape, hardness of candy.

On Friday, St. Nicholas will visit our back building.
We'll put one shoe out in the hall and hope to get a treat and just a little stick.

THANK YOU ALL FOR ENRICHING OUR 1ST GRADE WITH SO MANY PROJECTS. THE CHILDREN ENJOY SEEING THEIR MOMS IN CLASS.

Computer News
Any questions or concerns about computer --
please contact Mrs. Ledet by email.

Thank you for the generous gifts for our troops.  The Mission Club picked up our boxes and were very impressed with the amount donated.  Our angels are the best!

TIGER ROOM NEWS
MARYROSE is on the GOLD LIST--she has scored the MOST touchdowns!  LEONARDO and JACOB are the MVP award winners!  BEAU, CATHERINE, CAMILLE, LILLY, and DARREN also scored touchdowns!
We are an awesome team!

Each week we will copy MATH FACTS in the green dot book.  After we complete the facts to ten, our SPEED DRILLS will begin.  This means we move away from using the number line.  Our first quiz is on the O FACTS.
Two minutes for 11 addition and two minutes for subtraction facts. The facts are in mixed order and the child
takes the quiz from top to bottom without skipping around.
The first few weeks are easy as we know the 0, 1, and 2 facts.  Just wanted to give you an opportunity to review.

PREPOSITONS
We can identify prepositions in sentences.  Isn't that amazing for first graders!  Using the Question and Answer Flow, identifying SN, V, Adj, Adv are easily recognized.
Here's what we can do:
 A    Adj.  Adj.   SN         V      P   A   OP
The two happy puppies played in the grass.

December 16th -Advent All School Mass
(This is a changed date.)

Shout out to CAMILLE for bringing in Christmas Nativity stickers for everyone in the class.  This will make a great project with a beautiful, spiritual message.  CAMILLE you are a special angel spreading the Good News about Jesus.
Thank you also for the laser Christmas stickers and pencils for the Treasure Chest.
