Dear Parents:
I hope everyone had a very restful and blessed Christmas holiday. I enjoyed
my two week vacation. I did not accomplish everything I intended to, but I
never do!! I let myself be a little bit lazy!
No more laziness now, however, we will get back in the swing of things fast.
Your child is now going to be learning two and three letter phonograms and we
will be looking for them in our everyday words that we are reading. Look for
phonograms with your child as you read to your child. We will continue to
learn more sight words and we will still have a letter of the week, even
though we know all the sounds of the individual letters. We are going to be
gearing up for the Terra Nova test, which we will take in April. For
Kindergarteners, it is more about how to take the test than the test itself.
We will practice bubbling in more and more on our reading and math
assessments. As you can see we have a busy winter ahead of us. If the
weather forecasters are correct; we will have indoor recess quite a bit also.
I will try to put that to good use with some art and religion activities as
well as educational movies. Hopefully, we will get to play outside though.
Please, PLEASE, send your child's coat so they can play out side if it is
possible for us to do so.
I am looking forward to second semester. Your children have grown up so much
already. I can't wait to see what the second part of the year holds for us!
Love,
Mrs. Hodge
