The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
	Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
	He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
	He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose again.
 	He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
	the holy catholic Church,
	the communion of saints,
	the forgiveness of sins,
	the resurrection of the body,
	and life everlasting. Amen.

OTHER INFO. ABOUT CONFIRMATION...
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW UNTIL THEN...

20 Service hours are needed by Confirmation in APRIL.

Remember, if your child worked at VBS this past summer, he may claim up to 5
of those hours toward Confirmation.

ALTAR SERVING AND LECTORING MAY count
for 1 service hour each, if candidate has actually served this school year
as either an altar server or a reader. However, it can only be counted as 1
hour even if they've served many masses and the same with reading, just 1
hour can be claimed even though they may have read at many masses.

One of the ideas behind required service work during Confirmation
preparation is to get the candidates thinking and doing for others. So the
above are just a few ideas.

The Joyful Mysteries

1. The Annunciation

God. Mary humbly agrees saying, "I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be
done to me according to Thy will."

2. The Visitation

Mary, pregnant with Jesus, visits Elizabeth, pregnant with John the
Baptist. Elizabeth acknowledges that Mary is the Mother of God.

manger. Magi visit manger recognizing baby Jesus as a King.

4. The Presentation

the elderly man. He blesses God and says that he can now die,
that he has seen the Messiah!

Hail, Holy Queen - (p. 385 in 6th text)

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy;
Our life, our sweetness, and our hope!

To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve,
to you do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley, of tears.

Turn, then, most gracious advocate,
your eyes of mercy toward us;
and after this our exile
show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus;

O clement, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary.

Leader: Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

All: That we may be made worthy of the
promises of Christ.

St. Ignatius of Loyola’s Prayer

Teach me, Lord
To serve You as You deserve.
To give and not to count the cost.
To fight and not to heed the wounds.
To toil and not seek for rest.
To labor and not to ask for any reward,
Save that of knowing that I do Your will,
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen

NOTES for 8th graders about Confirmation:
Please remind YOUR STUDENT to send back his/her report card, raffle
tickets,
field day t-shirt order form, Confirmation Service hours (not due for
another week).

PLEASE TURN IN ALL CONFIRMATION FORMS: Sponsor name, confirmation name and
essay on Saint whose name you are choosing, Baptismal Certificate if not
baptized at St. Joseph, and service hours accountability sheet.

SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:

SERVICE IDEAS:
They can do things on their own like going to serve meals to the Homeless at
Hospitality House or the Salvation Army, helping the elderly with yardwork,
visiting nursing homes, etc. The child and parent can tailor their service
hours to fit their schedule. (From Church office)

Notes about Confirmation to appear here as received from Church Office.*

CONFIRMATION WILL BE AT 2 PM ON APRIL 20TH IN THE ST. JOSEPH ACTIVITY CENTER
(CHURCH/GYM).

10 Service hours should be acquired this 1st half of the year and 10
starting in January and finishing up by May.

* If your child put in MORE THAN his REQUIRED 3 hours for the Carnival,
they may claim those EXTRA hours as service up to a maximum of 5. See me if
you feel your child worked much more than 5 (that would mean actually having
worked more than 8 hours because the first 3 were required and do not count
toward Confirmation Service hours) and would like to have those hours also
considered.
Remember, if your child worked at VBS this past summer, he may claim up to 4
hours toward Confirmation.

* * Another change * * AT THIS TIME, ALTAR SERVING AND LECTORING MAY count
for 1 service hour if candidate has actually served this school year as
either an altar server or a reader.
