Overview

Ms. Desmond's and Mrs. Leedy's Overview December 8, 2009

We are "Wild about Learning" with a motto of "Hakuna Matata," (no worries).

We have a very busy and exciting couple of weeks ahead of us. Our winter parties are next week. We are only allowed two parties a year so we would like to make it a great one! Please watch for a note from the room mother and please participate in making this a great party for the students.

The students have voted that they would like to do a unit called "Christmas Around the World" in which we will be exploring winter holidays and traditions from countries around the world; including Isreal to investigate the traditions of Hanukkah. The students will be divided into groups, research their country here at school this week and present on their countries next week. If any of you have some Christmas traditions or information that come from another culture, we would love to have you come and share with the students. Please let us know if you have information to share with us!

This month's book presentations are optional due to the late November presentations and the Social Studies presentations. A student will not be penalized for not doing a presentation, but he or she may earn some bonus credit with a "Free A" in Reading if a presentation following normal guidelines is done.

In addition, to our Winter Parties and Social Studies presentations next week, we will also be having "Polar Express Morning" on Friday. Details are coming home on another form.

Once again, if you need to contact us, the most rapid method is through email. Contact us at deanna.desmond@stpsb.org or sherry.leedy@stpsb.org. Sincerely, Deanna Desmond and Sherry Leedy
