Mrs. Riche’s Overview December 7 - 11, 2009 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Spelling(6th grade): Pretest - Thursday ; Test - Friday New syllable type introduced - C-LE or Consonant-LE syllables. This week's spelling words will include multi-syllable words involving C-LE, closed, open, and VCE syllables. Language (6th grade): Caught ya - proofreading assessment - Friday Based on the upcoming biography book report quidelines, the students will write a 5 paragraph letter based on a biography read in class. Reading (6th grade): Gift Book Report due Wednesday, December 16th Students will received information on the December "Gift Book Report" in the green folder on Wednesday. In class, we will complete a "Gift Book Report" based on a biography read as a group. We will also complete presentions of their powerpoint (based on the Holocaust and World War II). Math (6th grade): Test on computation with decimals (multiplication and division) - Friday Continued focus will be identifying patterns in multiplication and division problems involving decimals and whole numbers. SAINTS Math - Through our weekly Saints updates we have explored ratio, fractions, percent, mean, median, mode, and Stem and Leaf Plots. GO SAINTS!! "Everyday Math Counts" New December skill: equivalent fractions Skills introduced thus far include: 3 dimensional figures, patterns, arrays, fractions, decimals, percent, subtraction of money, and area/perimeter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ News and Reminders: READ TO REACH AR GOALS!!!!!! The 2nd 9 weeks ends on Friday, December 18th - half day. Remember to check the TMS website weekly for the overview for homeroom teachers.
