Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading program which, we hope, will
challenge students, help raise test scores, and above all, make reading fun
and exciting for all of our students. Once a student reads a book, he/she
will then take a computerized test and be given immediate feedback. More
information about the AR program, such as how it's aligned with the state
standards, can be read from the Renaissance Learning website or from the
Tchefuncte Middle School website.
"Rock 'N' Read is the library theme for the 2007-2008 school year. Our
field trip this year will be to Preservation Hall for a concert and learn
about the history of jazz. We will also be given a demonstration on the
different sounds the instruments make. Then we will have lunch in Jackson
Square. If time permits we will go to Cafe du Monde for Beignets.
Each month the student in each homeroom with the highest number of AR
points will receive a certificate and his/her name will be placed on the
windows in the hallway outside the library. Also a certificate will be given
to the classroom for each grade level with the highest number of points to
be displayed outside of their classroom.
You can access the Renaissance Learning website to check to see if there
is a test for your book and also find out your child's progress.
