How often will we take tests?
Tests will be given approximately every 5 to 6 school days. I believe more
frequent tests over smaller amounts of material is of greater benefit to the
students.
This course is primarily a lecture-based course- Will we take lots of notes?
Yes, but it's not as bad as you may think. All of our lectures are saved on
Microsoft PowerPoint slideshows, and will be able to be accessed by students
and parents on this very website. Also, typed notes with omitted words will
be furnished to students if the instructor chooses to do so. This helps
speed up the note-taking process so students can more actively participate
in class discussion. These are luxuries which will be provided, they are
not necessities. Students will find that the course material will be
covered quickly, but will be easily comprehended if students remain on task
and complete assignments in a timely fashion.
How do I make up work that was missed?
If you have access to the internet, students will be able to access the same
notes pages and PowerPoint slide shows that will be covered in class that
day. Any handouts or assignments given that are not on the website will be
in a 3-ring binder in my classroom - students must be responsible enough to
check for work missed during their absences. Students must be absent on
days where new test material is being covered, as well as providing proof of
an excused absence in order to take a test at a time different than the rest
of the class.
