Advanced Placement United States History (APUSH) Summer 2008 Reading
"A People's History of the United States," by Howard Zinn (New York:
Harper Collins, 2003).
Requirements and Evaluation:
1.) Students will read and evaluate the work, in chapter-by-
chapter summaries (minimum of one paragraph per chapter;
each summary must accurately represent the chapter's
material). There should be a concluding section that
addresses the author's style and historical approach.
2.) The report should be in standard academic format, double-
spaced, with standard margins, standard font, and standard
point (12 point).
3.) In addition to the written requirement, a graded class
discussion will be conducted, in which each student will be
required to express his/her views about the book, as to its
content, strengths, and weaknesses.
4.) The written portion will carry a possible point value of 150.
The graded discussion will carry a point value of 50.
