Mark Moreau’s Rules, Regulations, and Rewards

Entering the Classroom:
The student should enter the classroom prepared:
1)	Have a healthy, well rested, and alert mind and body.
2)	Have Algebra I notebook
3)	Have Algebra I folder
4)	Have sharpened pencil (sharpen pencil before bell rings or
immediately following the bell before the teacher begins speaking). All the
test and assigned work must be done in pencil. Please have a back up.
Mechanical pencils are the best because they need no sharpening
5)	Have planner
6)	Have any completed assignment or had studied for any test
7) Have a highlighter
When Bell rings:
1)	Be prepared to learn
2)	Have assignments out ready to check
3)	Begin working on warm up problem of the day (eye popper, bell
ringer, etc.)
4)	Work on extra credit homework problems. This prepares you better for
class by giving you extra practice and you may earn extra credit homework
points
Classroom Behavior: It is assumed that you are in 9th grade or higher in
school and that YOU do want to graduate one day and contribute to society.
In case that you do not or you forget your goals, here are things that you
do not do:
1)	You never interfere with another student’s right to learn
2)	You never interfere with the teacher’s right to teach
3)	You do not cause disturbances of any kind for they violate rules 1 &
2. This also goes for bodily noises that cause disturbances such as burps,
belches, hiccups, sneezes, and farts.
4)	You never ever invade anyone else’s physical or mental space.
5)	You do not ever remove anything from the room that does not belong
to you such as textbooks, calculators, or other students’ property.
6)	You never ask to leave the room unless it is extreme emergency. You
must have your planner to leave the room or you can not go. You are
allowed only 5 emergencies per semester and this will be evidenced by
documentation in the planner. If you never use your 5 chances then you will
be rewarded at the end of the semester. It is your responsibility to notify
the teacher of this at the end of the semester to claim your reward.
7)	Never leave the room with out permission
8)	Never leave litter of any kind or size in the classroom. They are
trashcans located at diagonally both ends of the class. (The Northeast and
the Southwest corners of the classroom).
9)	Never write on any school property unless you have explicit
permission from the teacher.
10)	Never talk out loud in the class with out permission. Always raise
your hand or if there is no one speaking for awhile it is okay to speak with
out raising your hand. We TRY not to ever argue with each other.
11)	Not trying to learn. (Examples: not copying teacher’s examples, not
correcting or checking work, not trying to do the work, or not answering
questions)
Failure to follow these rules will result in the following situations:
1)	A verbal warning, hopefully quietly and professionally, but this is
not always a guarantee. (The teacher will tell the student something about
the situation and remind her how to act)
2)	Documentation of a note in the planner by the teacher of the
situation. This note will have to be signed by the parent.
3)	A phone call home by the teacher hopefully with the help of the
student.
4)	Send to the office to see the principal or assistant principal.
****The teacher may skip steps one to three and send the student straight to
the office to see the principal or assistant principal.
Work
All examples, definitions, and explanations that the teacher has on the
wall should be entered into the student’s notebook. In other words, the
student should keep a well organized neat notebook. Any practice that the
class does in the room is also the responsibility of the student to do in
his notebook.

Homework
1)	All homework is done in pencil. No exceptions. No pencil No credit.
2)	All homework has to have a heading of name, date, period in top
right corner of where the homework starts and on top left the assignment,
which in most cases is nothing more than page number and problem numbers to
be done.
3)	All problem numbers to be circled
4)	Any and all work needs to be shown for each problem.
5)	Basic problem should be:
a)	problem number circled
b)	problem written unless it is a word problem
c)	any work
d)	answer boxed off
6)	Homework will be checked and gone over the next day. If a student
is absent, he has the entire six weeks to make up the assignment. It is
highly recommended to make the assignment up as soon as possible.
7)	Any homework not made up will result in missed points for the sixth
weeks homework grade.

Test
1)	All tests are to be done in pencil. No exceptions. No pencil No
credit.
2)	All tests are to have the heading of name, date, period in top right
corner of test and the name of the test in top left corner.
3)	Any missed test will be made up the next day, unless the student
missed the review day for the test. In that case, the student will get an
extra day to prepare for the test.
