| WELCOME TO SECOND SEMESTER, YOUR LAST FEW MONTHS OF HIGH SCHOOL!!! I TRUST
THAT YOU WILL WORK HARD THIS SPRING, STAY UP TO DATE ON ALL YOUR WORK, AND
FINISH WITH A FLOURISH! IN GENERAL, WE WILL BE PREPARING YOU FOR JOB
APPLICATIONS, GIVING EMPHASIS TO RESUMES, JOB APPLICATION PROCEDURES,
ETIQUETTE, CAREER POSSIBILITIES AND FINANCIAL PEACE.
January 8-11: Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent in the library doing
research in order to make oral presentations to the class on the topic of
tourism in Louisiana. You will be asked to present a speech on a tourist
site
in Louisiana and convince me that I want to take my wife there for a
vacation.
I will provide details to you on how to make a persuasive presentation.
Jan. 14-18: A section on Business etiquette, a lesson on how to choose an AR
book, a look at how to read the stock market pages, a brief quiz on etiquette
and the conclusion of "Relating to Money" will occupy our week.
February 7-8: We will work in the computer lab on our W2W research papers.
Also, your January W2W is due Thursday!!! (That is an extended deadline, so
don't miss it.)
February 11-15: This week we will conclude our computer lab work to complete
the research project, power point and presentation for "Windows to the

Portfolio which you will be able to use when you are job-searching in the
next
few months. We will have the opportunity to delve into an analysis of our
career and personal goals. We'll conclude the week with another segment of
negotiating purchases.
March 31-April 4: Welcome back! You're in the home stretch, almost to
graduation! This week we will be studying etiquette, giving you some tips
about how to get through those "fancy meals" and special situations that can
make the difference in having a career or just getting a job. We will cover
all the basics and give you practice in social graces! It should be fun!
And, yes, I will give you a quiz on what we study.
April 7-11: We will spend the week working on writing good resumes so that
