WELCOME BACK, STUDENTS!
The literature units for 2nd semester English I are as follows:
- 4th 6 weeks - Poetry
- 5th 6 weeks - The Epic
- 6th 6 weeks - The Novel
We will also be incorporating grammar into the daily lessons, such as
pronoun-antecedent agreement and subject-verb agreement. Beginning Jan.
14th, all English I students will be assigned a weekly iLEAP packet to be
completed for a grade. Please note: these packets will be IN ADDITION TO
regular weekly homework assignments, so IT WILL BE VERY IMPORTANT TO COME TO
SCHOOL EVERY DAY AND KEEP UP!
Homework for this week is Grammar exercises 12 & 13, page 642 (Writer's
Choice.) Follow directions in text carefully. Due THURSDAY, 01/10 (20 pts.)

Homework for this week is Grammar Exercise 2, page 610 (subj.-verb
agreement) and to write your Cinquain, Color, and Diamante poems for the
Poetry Calendar. Homework due THURSDAY, 01/31 (20 points)
Quiz # 2 Friday, Feb. 1 on the following 3 poems: "I Wandered Lonely as a
Cloud," "Noiseless, Patient Spider," and "Wanderer." (30 points) Know the
author of each poem and study the notes/questions for each poem that we did
on the overhead.
Week of February 11-15, 2008:
Poetry Analysis Essay assigned MONDAY, 02/11. Work on in class on specified
days AND at home for homework. Due FRIDAY, 02/15 (100 points)
