Character Education

If you have been at ACS for any amount of time, you will surely know how important character education is at our school. Through the monthly themes we aim to highlight one aspect of character, although we talk about and model all character virtues throughout the school year.

Through mini-lessons, discussions, story telling/reading, class meetings, assemblies, and special circle events, virtues are introduced and practiced. We expect children will learn that each character trait builds into the other, resulting in a complete person.

This year, our program will be going into character and competence a little more deeply. Through a series of focused activities, we will help the students internalize these virtues.

Our Lower School Library has an excellent selection of books focusing on each of the featured virtues. While we have changed the structure of our monthly themes this year, those character traits from before will continue to be reinforced.
