Take Care of Books!

1. Keep your books AWAY from your water bottle in your backpack. If you can,
wear your water bottle around your neck! Books do not like water and can
not be put in the dryer!
2. Keep books away from food and beverages. Please have snacks before or
after reading your library books and keep them away from areas where food
is served. Don't feed your book!
3. Keep books away from younger brothers or sisters who might scribble in
or tear books. Books do not make good baby toys!
4. Keep books away from pets. Books are not good pet food!
5. Turn pages carefully from the top right corner. Do not turn from the
middle of the bottom page or pinch the page between your fingers. Books
do not like to be torn!
6. Make sure your hands are clean when reading library books. Books
can not be put in the washing machine!
7. Protect the spine of the book by always using a bookmark. Do not
place a book face down with the pages open. Doing this will
    break the books spine!
8. Always use a bookmark instead of turning down pages to mark your place.
Turning down pages gives the book dog ears and this is not good!
Do not use objects that are not bookmarks, such as pencils. Anything too
thick will break the books' spine!
9. Choose ONE particular place to keep your library books and return books
them there when you finish reading. That way you will know where they are
when it is time to return them!
10. READ IT! Have someone read it to you!
11. Return your books on time so that your friends may enjoy them too.
12. If you DO have an accident with a book, do not try to fix it at home! Your
librarian has the magic tape and clue to fix books. Put a note in the
book or tell your tell your librarian about the book. She won't be mad
but she will be sad for the book!
