Goals:
1.  Acquires and understands knowledge of the subject.
2.  Builds skills and uses them productively.
3.  Works at producing quality results.

E = Exceeds Expectations
M = Meeting Expectations
NM = Not Meeting Expectations

+ = very strong
- = weak

Characteristics of Successful Learners:

C = Consistently
U = Usually
S = Sometimes
R = Rarely

Letter Grade Descriptors (Academic Subjects for Grades 3, 4, and 5)

The following descriptors articulate the significance of the letter grade and 
serve as a guide to both students and faculty in recognizing its value. Taken 
together they are meant to represent a holistic interpretation of the letter 
grade for individual assignments or term grades. A specific work or a final 
assessment does not have to match every descriptor to earn the grade. 

What is an "A" 
�Sustained excellence 
�Outstanding performance relative to standards 
�Excellent work habits 
�Exceptional work 
�Thorough grasp of content and form 
�Superior knowledge and insight on assessments. 
�Ample evidence of serious thought and analysis. 
�Exhibits constant creativity and initiative 

What is a "B"
�Solid performance relative to standards 
�Strong work habits 
�Fine quality work 
�Firm grasp of content and form 
�Sound knowledge and insight on assessments. 
�Adequate evidence of serious thought and analysis. 
�Exceeds basic course requirements 
�Often exhibits creativity and initiative. 

What is a "C"
�Adequate performance relative to standards 
�Meets or approaches standards 
�Acceptable work habits 
�Satisfactory work 
�Basic grasp of content and form 
�Reasonable knowledge and insight on assessments. 
�Exhibits occasional creativity and initiative. 

What is a "D" 
�Poor performance relative to standards 
�Meets only some standards 
�Work habits need improvement 
�Substandard work 
�Minimal grasp of content and form 
�Insufficient knowledge and insight on assessments. 
�Rarely shows creativity and initiative. 
�Barely fulfils requirements 
�Modest evidence of student growth 

What is an "F" 
�Inadequate performance relative to standards 
�Fails to meet most standards 
�Poor work habits 
�Unacceptable work 
�Insufficient grasp of content and form 
�Lacks knowledge and insight on assessments. 
�Fails to show creativity or initiative. 
�Does not fulfill requirements 
�Minimal student growth
