Homework

-Weekly homework
    ~Homework packets are assigned on Monday and due on Friday.
    ~A variety of Spelling, Reading, Writing, Math, Social Studies, and Science assignments will be 
      included.
    ~There will be 2-3 paper assignments each week.
    ~Math games will be assigned often as homework.
-Reading Log Bookmark
    ~Read for at least 15 minutes/night.
    ~Record your book titles and minutes read o your bookmark each night.
-Word Study (Spelling)
    ~Spelling words will come home on Mondays.
    ~Follow directions on your word study envelope (see below).
    ~Prepare for your weekly spell check on Friday.
-Word Study Homework
    ~Monday: 
       Step 1: Cut and sort your words again in the same categories you did in school.
       Step 2: Write your words in categories as you copy them.
    ~Wednesday:
      Step 1: Write your words into categories as someone reads them aloud to you.
      Step 2: Choose a spelling practice strategy and practice your words.
    ~Thursday:
      Step 1: Sort your words again in the same categories you did in school.  SOUND THEM OUT.
      Step 2: Choose a spelling practice strategy and practice your words in a different way than on 
                    Wednesday night.
      Step 3: This is your last time to practice your spelling words before your weekly spell check.  Write 
                    the words into categories as someone reads them aloud to you.
      Step 4: Return your envelope on Friday morning in your homework folder.  You do not need to bring 
                    back your words.
-The homework packet and bookmark should be signed by the child and parent each week and 
   returned in your child's purple homework folder on Friday morning.
