In physical education students will have a variety of activities that will
challenge them physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. The students
will participate in modified team sports, and individual sports as well as
project adventure and physical fitness testing. The class has a major focus
on project adventure which helps develop teamwork, trust and leadership.
There is also a lot of emphasis on fitness during class. The class always
starts with stretches and exercise stations that focus on cardiovascular
fitness, muscular strength and muscular endurance. To help assess students
level of fitness, all students participate in the Presidents Challenge Youth
Fitness Testing where the students could earn a national physical fitness
award or presidential physical fitness award.
All students are expected to follow the full value contract which was
developed by Project Adventure. This contract stresses the importance of
playing hard, playing fair, playing safe and having fun during all activities.
The ultimate goal of this Physical Education class is to instill in the
students a desire to live active, healthy lives and to create in the students
knowledge and understanding of the importance of living active, healthy lives.
