COURSE REQUIREMENTS
MATH-7 & 8  Pre-Algebra 
MRS. HERL


	MATERIALS
1.	A separate 3-ring binder or section for math homework, class notes 
and vocabulary, class activities and worksheets.  The binder MUST be brought 
to class daily and will be checked.  Homework is not to be taken out of this 
binder.
2.	A pencil and eraser.  All work in math must be done in pencil 
including tests and quizzes.  Points will be taken off tests and quizzes 
that are completed in ink.  The teacher will not provide pencils. 
3.	Math textbook must be kept covered.  There will be 
several book checks throughout the year.
4.	Any student who is consistently unprepared for class will receive a 
low effort grade.


GRADING
1.	Chapter tests will cover all material in the chapter including 
vocabulary.  These will count for 40% of the term grade. There are no 
retakes on tests or quizzes.

2.	There are two chapter quizzes for each chapter and will include 
vocabulary from the lessons covered on the quiz.  These quizzes will count 
for 30% of the term grade. 

3.	Homework and class work will be checked daily.  Homework and 
participation will count for 15% of the grade.  Homework is practice and will 
not be graded for accuracy.  

4.  There will be MCAS Open Response questions which will count for 10% of 
the grade.

5.  there will be vocabulary on most test and quizzes.  this will count for 
5% of the grade.

EXTRA HELP
1.	Extra help and time for make-up work (quizzes and tests) is 
available during advisory or before or after school.     


       
THERE IS NO EXTRA CREDIT.  IF ALL ASSIGNMENTS ARE COMPLETE TO THE BEST OF 
THE STUDENTS ABILITY, EXTRA CREDIT IS NOT NECESSARY.
	
     MAKE-UP WORK
1.	All make-up work is due the day after you return from an absence.  
Absences do not excuse you from homework.  Call someone in class or visit my 
web page through the Central Tree Homepage at www.wrsd.net.  

2.	Tests and quiz dates will be announced in advance.  All 
tests and quizzes will be taken on the regularly scheduled day, unless the 
student was not present for the material.

3.	In the event of a long-term absence, it is the responsibility of the 
student to make arrangements for make-up and extra help.   If work is not 
made up within a reasonable time, it will result with a grade of  0.  


BEHAVIOR
1.	Each student is expected to follow acceptable classroom rules.  The 
most important rule being that all students have the right to learn without 
distraction.  Disciplinary action will be taken for any student who cannot 
behave in an acceptable manner.
