What is a spot check?

A spot check is a quiz given without warning on a reading, etc. that was 
assigned by the teacher and supposed to be completed by the student.

What is a rubric?

A rubric is a list of requirements or a guideline for a piece of assigned 
work.  Numerical value may be attached to each point highlighted in the 
rubric.

What is plot?

Plot is the sequence of events in a story or a novel?

Conflict is the problem in a  story or a novel? (Man vs. Man; Man vs. Nature ;
Man vs. Self)

What is the climax ?

Climax is the turning point or the highest point of action in a story or a 
novel.  It is the point at which a character does or says something that 
changes the outcome the story.  (a decision is made)
