Quizzes and Tests this week:
1) Quiz Thurs., October 9 – rounding decimals to a specific place value, adding and subtracting
decimals, multiplying decimals
Monday: Number line instruction, more work on rounding to a specific place value, more on adding
and subtracting decimals
Homework: Pages 27-29, #15-18, 20-23, 26-27, 47, 49, 51-55 (17 problems)
Tuesday: Multiplying decimals, and multiplying & dividing by powers of ten
Homework: Pages 38-39, #36-39, 44-45, 47, 56-58, 59-61 (13 problems)
Wednesday: Dividing decimals
Homework: Pages 46-47, #37-45 (odds only), 49-55 (all) (12 problems)
Thursday: Order of Operations
Homework: Pages 54-54 Chapter Review (Due Tuesday)
Read the review information in each section, and then do the problems.
Do #6-18, 23-26, 28-31, and 35-37
(Refer to your Math Notebook or refer back to the lessons noted in the left margin if you need to
review how to do any of these problems.)
Friday: ˝ day, 6A-3 and 6A-4 have class; will learn about a famous mathematician.

Monday: Complete the Lesson 1-1 and 1-2 worksheet started in class
Tuesday: Complete the Lesson 1-3 worksheet started in class. REVISED IN
CLASS to: Reteaching side of worksheet only, #1-21
Be ready for a quiz on Lessons 1 through 3 tomorrow
Wednesday: Complete the Lesson 1-4 and 1-5 “Reteaching” worksheet started in
class. REVISED TO: Reteaching 1-5 only - show work on separate paper
(decimal addition and

Thursday: Complete the Lesson 1-4 and 1-5 “Practice” worksheet started in

Quiz Wednesday, September 24 – basic facts 4’s through 12’s
Test Friday, September 26 – Whole number multiplication (3-digit by 2-
digit using traditional algorithm) and whole number division (2-digit divisor)
Monday: Complete the division worksheet started in class
Tuesday: Study for tomorrow’s basic facts test
Wednesday: Complete the multiplication and division practice worksheet
Thursday: Do some practice problems to prepare for tomorrow’s multiplication
and division test.
Friday: None
Week of September 15, 2008
Daily grading for classwork starts this week. Full attention, your best
effort, and arriving to class with all required supplies (see below) are
components of the daily grade. Please be sure you get a good night's rest
and eat a healthy breakfast each day so you are ready to work at your highest
potential! Classwork counts for 20% of your overall term grade, so doing
your best each day will help you achieve the best possible grade.
Monday and Tuesday - Study basic facts, 4's through 12's tables. There will
be a quiz Tuesday, for a grade, on these facts. In class, we will review the
steps of multiplication and division, and we will discuss and practice
division estimation strategies while working several division problems.
Week of September 8, 2008:
This week we are focusing on diagnostic testing during class to assess
overall math skills and assessment of basic multiplication facts. You will
need to know your facts automatically in order to be successful in decimal
and fraction multiplication. Review with online games or the multiplication
war game learned in class. The second written basic facts assessment on 0-
9's tables will be given Tuesday.
Bring your 4 dry erase markers to class before the end of this week.
Beginning Wednesday, be sure to bring to class each day the following items:
1) your Math book, 2) your spiral-bound Math notebook, 3) your 2-pocket Math
folder 4) pencils, block eraser, pencil sharpener, and dry erase marker, and
5) your agenda book
